The only thing I dont understand is Noble consistently has called me the biggest whiner on this forum but im not the one whining about a father marketing his brand and doing an exceptional job of setting up his boys for success.

If you dont like it why the hell you tuning in? If you dont like the attention then why the hell you loggin in? Everyone on the internet talks about the hottest pop culture topics, and Lavar has been one for weeks. I know its annoying at times but how is it doing US any harm?

Is he doing anything to harm a soul?
Hes goofing around on tv for entertainment and people are eating it up.
We might not like it but a majority of America does, or else he wouldnt be put on all these platforms.

The anger or disappointment should be directed towards society for being so interested in it, rather than the media or fans for enjoying it and capitalizing off of it.
They dont put anyone or anything on tv that isnt in high demand.

Same goes with Stephan A Smith. Most dudes on NT call him a clown but still tune in everyday for his takes. Obviously if you want to watch someone for your own entertainment they must be doing something right, they are performers and you are tuning in to watch them perform.

I just think we should focus more of our attention on society as a whole, rather than pinpoint one father who is using this system to his advantage masterfully as annoying as it might be to us or not.
Hes not the problem, hes just taking advantage of the problem and hes doing it harmlessly to help his family.

What is the big deal?

(And i get it, i just whined about whiners...which is still whining. Whatever)

thats the licenses to balls i know

you want some cheese with your whine?

We get it, you're gonna back the Ball family with your every breath, we all get it, but you know damn well there is zero reason for this father to be all over every platform. Stop pretending like it's normal.

It is though. Especially in today's microwave and social media climate. Get with the times. He would be dumb to turn down free publicity. They get ratings and he gets exposure for his brand.

Most of the debate last night about Ball was really good and I'm not sure exactly where I fall other than Lavar needs to fall off a cliff somewhere.

And not because he's black.

Lavar Ball represents everything I loathe about ESPN and today's Sports journalism. Who can yell the loudest and be the biggest clown will draw the most attention and they don't even really have to say a damn thing that's accurate or true, just be wild and crazy. SAS, Skip Bayless, Ball, Chris Broussard.

No one focuses on the actual games anymore, instead they focus on the gossip. Sports gossip. Far as I can tell, it kinda started with the OJ case and the Nancy Kerrigan case, those were HUGE headline grabbers, and ever since, we've started trending towards all this gossip bs and no more actual sports discussion or debate.

Lonzo Ball is drafted, the mic goes into Lavar Ball's face. Think about that.

On one hand, Lavar is a brilliant father in that he is sort of keeping Lonzo out of the media limelight by deflecting all the attention onto himself, that's very smart, and from what I can tell, I think it's benefiting Lonzo.
On the other hand, why the **** does the world insist on listening to some dad? Where was Josh Jackson's dad? Why didn't I see Fultz's dad? Or Monk, or DSJ, or Fox, or Shaq's, or AD's, or Iverson's, or Blake Griffin's? Why don't those dad's have interviews nightly? Why aren't they wrestling? (Wrestling alone is reason enough for me to be done with a person :lol )

Colin Cowherd used to be a VERY smart, intelligent, well thought out person when he was the local guy here in Oregon. Very reasonable, very knowledgeable, was really bright and was a great listen. Then he got hired by ESPN and oh my God did he flip the script. Suddenly he was Hot Take master and sayin anything he could to drive up ratings.
Jim Rome hasn't had an actual sports observation in 20 years, he just tells jokes that involve teams/players and coaches. "Whoa man, that Super Bowl was fresh, the Patriots really brought it last night". Rack em. National radio host, doesn't say a single word about the actual game, or matchup, or strategy, nothin, just spits stupid *** takes, and makes millions off that garbage.

To me, Lavar represents all that.

Know who else is like that? Tebow. Biggest farce there is, and yet media/fans eat him up.

Manziel too.

So I don't see it as a black/white thing, because both sides have the same type of media driven following that the masses just devour. It's dumbed down the average sports fan so damn much it's ridiculous. And frankly sad.

Lavar has zero need, reason, or business bein on TV, or radio, or anywhere else other than in the seats cheerin on his son(s). You can surely do the dad interview now again, or show them cheerin during games, but all this other nonsense is flat out garbage and the world is worse off because of it. That ain't Lavar's fault by any means, he's soaking in the 15 minutes of fame, it's society as a whole that is to blame for a random father to become a mega celebrity, same as a sex tape turned the Kardashians into historical royalty.

I mean.....did I not say that? Was that not entirely my point? :lol

I'm not hating on Lavar for sport, I'm hating on the millions of lames that devour that sort of attention. Millions of them couldn't pick Lonzo out of a lineup, but got his dad's background on lock. "Sports" in 2017.

i have tuned out so many of these sensationalist/attention grabbing/hot take making voices that none of it bothers me. it only affects you as long as you let it.

you cry more than anyone in this entire forum.
anytime someone scrolls and sees your username in a thread we all assume its going to be something negative, and it usually is.
your sports takes are worse than whips.
you root for multiple basketball teams.
you compare tyler perry to lavar ball.

Enough said.

I wasn't speaking about you entirely. It was just different aspects of a few peoples opinions together, both from here and on Twitter.
It was more of a general release of my own frustration about what people choose to be so upset about.

I understand the irony because I myself am choosing to be frustrated about something i shouldnt be. But i wanted to make it clear that i think society is more of a problem for being more interested in the Lavar balls of the world as opposed to the Lavar Balls taking advantage of said interest and capitalizing on it for their families.

Y'all wasting your time trying to get dudes to like Lavar man... it's pointless

Dude just wants to feed him family and build his brand.

Everyone comparing him to other/former players; things change; especially now that social media has a big following and can make you famous.

Didn't Eli Manning's dad tell teams who his son wasn't playing for?

Didn't Shaq's step dad break a camera man's camera and punch him after/during a interview?

Reports just came out that Steph's dad and agent called T Wolves and told them not to draft Steph.

Williams sister's dad was like this too

List goes on..

Just think... usually when I player gets on; he takes care of his mom, dad; cops them a house, car, makes sure their bills paid; what's wrong with Lavar not taking the hand out; building his own brand/having a hand in helping Lonzo build a empire?

Lavar is doing nothing illegal; just taking advantage of the moment.

Just look at the buzz and hype it's generating
Lonzo was the #2 pick and I haven't heard anything about Fultz or the other picks; they aren't doing nearly as much or being talked about nearing as much.

Lonzo came into the league with his own sneaker... how can you hate his dad for providing that?

Cuz he can be obnoxious.

But you don't have to watch it or listen
Turn the channel
Y'all up in arms over some comments?!

I think it's sad there's no middle ground when it comes to fatherhood
Either your doing too much or not enough
