Who cares about what people steal from him!? That doesn't make him good HEAD COACH. That makes him a great offensive assistant coach.

I'd love to keep MDA as an offensive assistant, obviously he's brilliant when it comes to that. That's why TEAM USA has him on the coaching staff... To help with the OFFENSE.

But he has no ability to coach defense, none... He has no ability to coach big men (Dwight...Pau...)... He has horrible rotations, is horrible at making in game adjustments, and spends most his time during games *****ing and whining to refs.

HE IS NOT A GOOD HEAD COACH.

A head coach is more than helping your young players shoot. A head coach is more than drawing up a few nice plays for free throw rebounding or fast break passing.

Why are you being so damn stubborn CP?
We know he has a great offensive mind.

So does Norv Turner.
But clearly he's been a disaster of a head coach anywhere he's been... Trust me, id know.

Offensive specialist doesn't equate to being handed the reigns as head coach for such a prestigious franchise when you HAVENT WON **** in your career. And even if he had, it would of been a decade ago when he clearly had the ability to coach that specific roster of players to a competitive level.

After that, he's proved nothing but FAILURE for any team he's coached.
COACHED.

No ones disputing his offensive brain.

HES A HORRIBLE HEAD COACH.

How can you seriously sit there and deny that with a straight face?

That's because I don't really give a damn what you're sayin. You're just typin. Pick and choose whatever facial expressions you want, all that, Kobe and Mike have been close since he was a damn kid. Would Kobe prefer Phil Jackson? OF COURSE HE WOULD, who wouldn't? But that doesn't mean that Kobe doesn't still like Mike just fine, which he has said, numerous times. Just like when Kobe had 8 on his jersey, what number Mike wear? 8, from Italy, where Kobe grew up. Ohhh, so random.

Mike, again, MIKE didn't even run Mike's offense last year, he was trying to appease everyone. Dwight, Kobe, Pau, everyone. He ran Triangle, Pick and roll, horns, everything. Any play he could get them to run cohesively so they could win games. He threw out his whole system to get W's. He didn't have the parts he needed. We had no shooters (well, not enough after Nash/Meeks) and no spacers. This team, has more what he needs. But he still needs more. Hopefully they will get them in time. Via draft, or FA. Either way, he needs his pieces to run the system, just like Phil had his pieces to run his Triangle. Same thing. Phil would get old *** Ron Harper to be a PG, just because he wanted tall PG's. Nothing more. It was part of his belief in his system. Mike has those same beliefs, just needs to get those type players.
Yet you act like what you say is the word of God around.

F outta here.. I'll do the same.. don't really give 2 !@#@ about what you're saying. you're just typing to be a douchebag.

Yes, Mike has never won. Understood.

Because Mike traded away Rajon Rondo, Loul Deng, Marcin Gortat, Rudy Fernandez and Nate Robinson, after letting Joe Johnson walk away for nothing.

Yes, Mike never won. I have no idea why he never could win.........................................................................

Phil Jackson is the GOAT, and he SURELY would have won titles if we gave away Horry, Fox, Glen Rice, Kukoc, Harper, H. Grant, Trevor Ariza, and Lamar Odom year after year after year. He could easily overcome that.

Good perspective guys.

OK, OK, OK... the entire face of the NBA is a variant MikeD style offense.

*finger twirl*

Great.

If Tyler Florence makes a peanut butter sandwich just like me, does that make me a great chef?

What the league figured out is that his offensive schemes are worth copying... IN PART. And while they were analyzing what he does different, they wanted NO PART of his defense.

coach- "Boy look what Mike D's doing over there. We should do that."

asst.- "You want me to study his offensive plays and defensive rotations?"

coach- "Ummm... no, no... on second thought, just the offense. We'll keep what we're doing on defense."

asst.- "So copy his entire offense?"

coach- "Actually, not... ENTIRE offense. Just parts."

I'm supposed to be all giddy because a small portion of what he brings to the table is being emulated? Somewhere, James White is in full agreement that one aspect of a game should be enough to land a HOF nod.

Yes, so the two Finals contestants last season, that run his offense, but have the players to also defend, don't speak to what he "could" do, given the talent.

And the talent that the cheap *** Suns SOLD to other teams, draft after draft, after draft, wouldn't have netted him that talent with which to compete when he was already winning 60+ games, that wouldn't have changed, or altered his win column by any stretch? Rondo, Deng, Gortat, Nate, Joe, NONE of them, would have helped that roster? None of them.

*shrugs*

You right guys. Mike sucks.

Hack a Dwight to stay in it but prolly still lose, can pringles during post game presser. (Pringles tells us well only have one steve tomorrow but will start farmar at point but the other steve at the 2 to get lit up by eric gordon).

Daryl Morey said "hack a Dwight, statistically speaking, isn't a sound strategy" :nerd:

LoL.

I saw plenty of leads dissipate and a lot of deficits inflate because of it.

Im thinkin about teasin this one with flop city +20 and +11 respectively.

As far as NBA coaches go, I wouldn't say he sucks.

But he's not great, by any stretch.

And that fact that his list of accomplishments is riddled with what he could have done is a testament to that.

- 2006: could have beaten Pop and Phil

- post-2006: could have been great w/ Rondo, Gortat, Deng, and lil Nate

- 200whateveryearhesignedwiththeKnicks: could have won more than 3 games a season

- 2012: could have coached a starting lineup of MVP at the 1, Scoring Title/MVP at the 2, DPOY at the 3, ROTY at the 4, and DPOY at the 5 to an outstanding season

Like I was saying in the NBA thread last week about Rubio, if a guy is to be praised for what he could potentially do, then I'll potentially applaud him.

As it stands, I look at Mike's resume, and I see a lot of fancy scoring. Unfortunately for him, my basketball standards are a tad higher than "Fancy scoring is all that matters."

Miss me with what he could have done. Dwight Howard could have been al all time Laker great, so let's just go ahead and hang his jersey up.

Why the hell would we hack a dwight when we can bait them into feeding him in the post and watch him throw bricks off the back board all night long?

Exactly. I rather just completely ignore what his front office did during his tenure and pretend those things never happened. That is absolutely the best way to look at it. 5-6 players given away, too bad Mike, win anyways.

Exactly the approach to have. Way to dig deep Laker fans.

Exactly.

Since when is "but he could of" a valid argument.

If "could of" held the same value as "has done" then we could of called LeBron the GOAT in 2009 before he even left to
Miami.... Because LeBron COULD OF won 5 RINGS in Cleveland if Mo Williams wasn't the 2nd best player in their team.

**** Kobe could of taken the Lakers to the finals with Smush Parker, Kwame and Luke Walton in 2006 if it wasn't for Tim Thomas in round 1 right? But he didn't. Do we give him credit for "almost"... Nope. No ring, no excuse, no credit.

Everyone in the world "could" be a great successful coach, but everyone is not.

MDA clearly... Is not.

Why the hell would we hack a dwight when we can bait them into feeding him in the post and watch him throw bricks off the back board all night long?

because all things do not go well in laker land and tonight might be one where dwight will be fed the ball continuously and potentially have a good night :\

And Jesus Christ CP... At least stop with the condescending tone, mocking us "Laker fans"...

As if we have no brain.
I know we all joke around, and I have my fair share of jokes and sarcasm...

But c'mon man. I don't seriously think your stupid when it comes to sports or Lakers basketball. You obviously have an extensive knowledge.

But in subtle ways your constantly questioning the intelligence of anyone who disagrees with you.

I just dont see dwight doing well if we put any effort into defending him. I do expect caspi or lin to drop 35 on us though

I don't give a flying **** if you disagree with me, I'm stupid, disagree with me all you want.

But it is extremely stupid to flat out ignore facts straight in your face. Yes, Mike has zero titles. Guess I'll just stop there.........

No. Look, LOOK at why that happened.

Oh hey, the Suns sold 5 of their draft picks and then let one of their best players leave, for nothing.

But hey, why would that, have ANY impact on a head coach not winning?????

Yes, let's ignore those facts.

That's plain dumb.
