no one here is saying that we dont need a bench to win the championship
what we are saying is that there is probably a better/younger/cheaper option to be our 6th man than nick young
he is 29 this year, as a rebuilding team he will be on the downside of his prime by the time we are contenders
right now his trade value is pretty high, take advantage of that
same goes for any player on our team that is playing well, all these guys are very replaceable
Very few better 6th man options. Very few. Unless you are looking at taking a starter, and moving him to the bench because that will cost money as well. And if they are younger, it will cost extra money to be the 6th man.
With that said there are holes in his game. That people have pointed out. You hope that that brings down his value. If he gets $8mil offer, then I have no problem letting him leave.
The Front Office also doesn't plan on rebuilding. It's the same old reloading. There actually is no rebuilding with what we have. Rebuilding would require you to develop young talent, draft pickS, etc. Unless you think that they will go and give anyone a max contract on this team (exception Kobe) that isn't rebuilding. It is pretty much the same thing Lakers have always done.
