Sorry to hear that.

When it goes from getaway to home it loses it's luster.

I have family that moved out there before the turn of the century.  It's home to them, so all the stuff to do becomes the norm.

Plus, the weather blows.
I'm really not huge on the whole Vegas thing anyway.

I'm married with kids, so all I'm really concerned about is paying off debt and making sure my kids are getting educated, which are things that will happen if I move out there.

The best part is that I'll be getting California wages but paying LV cost of living. It will allow my wife to go back to school, something that isn't realistic if we stay in California.

I'll get to party so infrequently that Vegas will remain "Vegas" to me, which is a bonus.

i still remember the time i went to vegas with my mom. she had tickets to some concert at Cesars. we stayed at Ballys and got a suite because all their rooms were booked and we were only staying one night. too bad i was underage.

Im going be in vegas next week starting wednesday and going through the holiday monday
smile.gif
... staying at the MGM, I already have tickets to the UFC fight, anyone else going??

once the girls find out its a bachelor party its like sharks to blood,
laugh.gif
Yah no doubt. Those girls are really tough to say no to especially when they sit on your lap and start grinding.

What I do is wander around and look for the talent and bring em to our tables.  I always play dumb like oh it's my first time here.. what's the champagne room? Can I get a tour?  They take me to the back and show me the spots and obviously I am groping
laugh.gif
the female when we're on the tour.  Then I break their heart and say... NAAAHHHH I got to go back to my table or sometimes I bring em back to our table.

I never ever go to the back. Same dances as it is in the front so its a waste of money.  Plus the whole point in being at a strip club with your boys is to get the dances in front of them  so everyone can stare, laugh, talk crap, etc..

i hate you.

i have the unenviable task of trying to find a bar or someplace that is gonna be showing the fight.  since I am going to be there for a bachelor party, i cant exactly tell the kids that im gonna take off for 5 hours to go to the arena to see Rampage powerbomb the hell out of Rashad.

just got back from vegas about 2 weekends ago and here's my experience Friday Night, Saturday Night.
We had about 8 dudes no lies, and we got in XS the club in Encore. The club opened at 10:00 and we were in line no joke by 9:30PM got in by 10:15, no bottle service, no guest list. 30 dollars to get in. Honestly the best club in vegas right now is XS, they play house music in the beginning but hip hop/rap by the end of the night. Next night we just bar hopped, hit the strips, got in LAX in Luxor, some dude was performing. What i learned:
- If you clubbing pick one spot and get there early. Drinks are 10+ dollars
- Dress to impress
- WOMEN, WOMEN, WOMEN they are everywhere so don't get too uptight if you get shutdown by one broad
- PREGAME in the hotel, PREGAME on the ride there, PREGAME while in line, save you some money
- HAVE A BLAST

^ If you need a place to watch the fights (no cover), google Screwballs.

Decent little dive with cheap food/drinks, 5 mins from the Excalibur.

I watched Rua/Machida II a few weeks back there.

What part of the Valley are you moving too? Education wise look into getting your kids into Bishop Gorman or Findlay Prep if you can afford it. Stay away from the North and East sides of town. Southern(Henderson) and Western(Summerlin) is the high class areas with less crime. Its a great city though, if you like to eat out you can never run out of spots.

Honestly, Hip-hop and Vegas don't really mix.  The one hip-hop place they had closed down recently.

I've been spending the last couple of weeks debating making the move myself. I'm actually going there tomorrow to check out a condo at the Panorama Towers.

There's definite advantages to living there - low cost of living, lots of stuff to do, etc. But there are the obvious disadvantages as well... Problem for me is that everyone I know in Vegas is either a gambler or a host, so it's next to impossible for me to go there and not party (thankfully I'm not much of a gambler. We'll see what happens. Ideally I'd like a place in L.A and a place in Vegas so I can go back and forth between the two.

Honestly, Hip-hop and Vegas don't really mix.  The one hip-hop place they had closed down recently.

I went to Tao last year on a Saturday and there was a good amount of hip-hop playing there...

Will be out there in about 2 weeks for the 4th of June weekend fly back to NYC that Sunday.

Will go over this post later on.

thanks for the heads up.  i tried to look for places online at the ufc website and the closest place to PH listed was Aria.  I'm guessing anywhere on the strip is gonna be packed to watch the fight and cause of dinner I'm not gonna be able to make it there early, so a more "off the beaten path" kinda place is exactly what I was lookin for.

I heard that when a fight is in Vegas, no bars or hotels on the strip are allowed to show it.  Not sure why not, maybe some kind of regulation with the sportsbooks or something.

I might check out that Screwballs spot, I want to watch it since I couldn't afford actual tickets to the fight even though I saw some go for under face value.

Sure, it's cheap as hell to live here, but the education system is horrible. Clark County School District is one of the top 5 worst school districts in the country IIRC, and if later down the road you want to send your kids to college, if you keep them here, UNLV stays hiking up tuition prices, while cutting classes, and majors even.
Of course, at the end of the day Vegas seems perfect for your situation. I was just sayin'.

Yep - any fight in Vegas is blacked out on the strip. We were too lazy to go to MGM for Mayweather/Mosley, and even in our $5,000/night suite, they wouldn't hook us up with the fight. Pretty wack but whatever.

Next weekend should be pretty fun.. MMA Expo, UFC 114, Encore/Surrender grand opening, Wet Republic line-up... stoked! But don't wanna leave L.A.

Ive actually thought about moving to Vegas, not sure if ill actually go for it or not....the condo's you can get there are amazing for a decent %*+ price.

My friends and I are planning to go to vegas for new years and I have a couple of questions, Whats the latest I should wait to book a room, and what clubs or events I should hit up on new years eve?
