Magic Johnson was never a bench warmer in high school, college, nor the pros.

What the video shows was that Magic was THE man as soon as he entered the professional ranks. He was needed, as the NBA was mired in mediocrity. They had major drug scandals, and the NBA's attendance, then television profits, were at a all time low. With Magic and Bird the NBA gained a whole new audience, under the watch of the new head of the NBA, David Stern.

^ Exactly why that commercial was a huge mistake. You do not put something like that out, showing that you may take yourself a bit too seriously. A lighthearted commercial would have been hip, one making fun of his camp, then his own stupidity. But NO! Nike has to make that paper, right?

 He is owned, bought and paid for. Sad thing is, I dig the brother's game!

While the first one was funny, well thought out and watchable, the second was NOT funny, immature, incredibly homophobic, and then very lazy and uninspired.
