Damn, can't believe I didn't see that. I'm sure there were fillers that would make it work

, they're only a little off.

Nope....check them on Espn

It's because Batum is seemingly on his rookie deal while Mathews makes 5.765m

I'm not sure if it'd work with Oden or if we'd have to package a deal with a salary of like Amndson's

No Warriors trade involving Monta Ellis is imminent, but it seems inevitable the star guard will be traded.

Whether it's to Philadelphia, Chicago, Memphis or Denver, the Warriors appear comfortable with the reality that moving Ellis presents their best chance to improve the team. Recent developments have shown he still has value, and most of the Warriors' decision-makers aren't tied to him.

With the draft less than two weeks away, it all seems to be creating the perfect opportunity to trade Ellis.

The Warriors are on the hunt to add a difference maker via a trade. Multiple sources confirm they have talked to Memphis about Rudy Gay, Philadelphia about Andre Iguodala, Chicago about Luol Deng and Denver about Nene.

The Iguodala option, which the Warriors have been exploring at least since the offseason began, is the one that has legs. But one team source said it's not close to happening. The expectation is that any deal would happen on or near draft day, which is June 23.

The Warriors are not actively shopping Ellis, another source said, but when the news came out that talks with the 76ers had resurfaced, it gave the Warriors a gauge of his value. Since then, multiple teams have inquired about Ellis, despite his having three years left on his contract at $11 million per year.

Point guard Stephen Curry has more trade value than Ellis because, among other reasons, Curry's contract is much more affordable, but the Warriors aren't interested in trading him. Since they have little else to offer, the Warriors "would be crazy not to strike while the iron is hot," one of the sources said.

But Golden State isn't giving away Ellis. One of the sources said that whereas the Warriors like Iguodala, they aren't in love with him, and he is one of a few options they are exploring.

According to a CBS Sports report, Ellis' agent, Jeff Fried, is working with the Warriors to send his client to a contending team. If so, it seems Warriors management isn't alone in thinking a trade is inevitable.

If it's about defense, why trade Monta?

There's something that just doesn't quite add up with all this Monta Ellis trade talk.
New coach Mark Jackson came in on Friday during his introductory press conference and talked about defense at the beginning, middle and end. Talked about how you can't be a good team if you don't defend. Warriors coaches have mentioned defense in the past, but for Jackson it was a theme.

Why then are the Warriors supposedly talking about trading Monta Ellis?

Of their smallish but talented backcourt of Ellis and Stephen Curry, only Ellis has proven he can defend at the NBA level. There is no doubt Ellis is a better defender than Curry right now and has a bigger upside as a defender down the road.

Look, neither Ellis nor Curry is a good defender, but Ellis has had stretches during his career when he's been effective at that end of the floor. Ellis showed every now and again last season that he can be a good defender. He's quick enough to stay in front of quick perimeter players and he's tough enough to take on the challenge of getting posted up.

No, Ellis doesn't "get after it" defensively as much as he should, but when he's committed he's shown in recent years he can bother players such as Kevin Durant, Brandon Roy, and, yes, even Kobe Bryant. Don't forget, early in Ellis' career, the strength of his game was actually on defense. Ellis didn't play a lot his rookie season -- coming right out of high school -- but when he did, he showed he was quick enough and capable enough to stay in front of penetrating point guards.

Again, he hasn't done enough of it during his career, but that's still a better resume and track record than Curry. And Curry has less foot speed, less strength and less athleticism than Ellis.

Ellis is better now and has more potential.

If defense is as important as Jackson says it is -- and owner Joe Lacob, too -- why in the world would they move Ellis?

Wouldn't it be the other way around?

It would be pretty easy to make the case that if the Warriors trade Ellis -- and keep Curry -- that all this talk about defense was really just that ... talk.

Stienmetz hits the bottle too much sometimes....Monta is the only talent with a sizeable, but yet reasonable contract. Therefore to free up some space and get the type of players they want you're going to have to give up something that may even have upside. It's not like people are calling the Warriors about Lee or Biedrins.

the thing with that is, Curry is more of a PG than Ellis, and Jackson being a former PG himself, they ( management )see more value in Curry, even if his defense isnt the best. Dumb article IMO Like every team has a defensive player in all 5 starting positions.

Trading Curry in order to move Biedrins >>>>> Trading Monta (and its not even close)

Trading Monta will not help this team as long as we still have 2 stiffs clogging up the paint.

No reason Monta cant run the point and average 23 and 8.

I am officially off the trade Monta bandwagon.

This sucks.

I'd be all for trading Curry ONLY if we move Biedrins with him, but it wont happen. Monta is the odd one out, and it sucks. He's gonna have to take off the tattoo
