I meant for them to study, thats why there hasn't really been any missions. there could be something who knows but they found mars to be similar to earth which is why there is so much fascination with it and have humans settle there,

makes sense to first try and settle on the moon and know what we can or can't do on mars so im shocked it took this long for something to come to fruition instead of jumping straight into planting humans on a planet with no idea how it will work
