LOL.
Is Anthony Johnson gonna be the only backup PG we have.
Jared Dudley and Goran Dragic really started to shine when Alvin Gentry took over and brought back the SSOL ideology.Originally Posted by CP1708

Nash
Cheesy
Hill
PF
Amary
Barbosa
Frye
Other Lopez
Barnes is gone right? Who am I missing? That team isn't going to make the playoffs, they have to trade Amare mid season. Have to do it. If they're keeping Nash and committed to losing for another 3 years, then they can't let Amary just walk. Gotta get somethin for him.

Now you have to remember, these guys coming out are going to be rookies. Thabeet has played 6 years of basketball. He's coming along. He's got an incredible instinctive defensive capability and we are already working with him with coaches, etc. We'll have people coaching him before the summer league and to not only work on his defense but concentrate highly on working on his offensive capability. He's a good athlete. He's got great quick feet. He's got good lift. He's got great reflexes and there's no reason he can't be like Patrick Ewing.
Now I happened to go to Georgetown and my son went to school with Patrick Ewing and when he was at Georgetown he was a defensive specialist. In the NBA he became an offensive specialist. There's no reason a great player can't switch. I honestly I believe there is no reason he can't be as good offensively as somebody like Bill Russell who was also a predominantly defensive player.
Ok, things are getting out of hand.
I want Thabeet to succeed, but Heisley is really pushing it. He makes a good point about Ewing becoming an offensive specialist in the league, but you alsohave to look at the amount of time Ewing was playing ball before he hit the NBA compared to Thabeet's 6 years.
I can't wait for the playoffs to start already so Orlando can beat Cleveland again.@ these Cleveland is better than Orlando conversations. The signing of Bass willdo wonders for that team especially with him playing beside Dwight. He doesn't have to score, just be the dog he is which is what Orlando need. A healthyNelson, VC, Lewis and Dwight's 20 and 10 can give Orlando all the scoring they need. Add Pietrus to that along with Ryan Anderson (who is decent) andAnthony Johnson to take care of the ball. Barring injury, they will be tough. They still need to add a little more depth to assure that they can still wingames if one of their starters go down.
Blazers Rookie Mills Fractures Foot
Portland Trail Blazers rookie guard Patrick Mills fractured the fifth metatarsal in his right foot during Thursday evening's NBA Summer League practice session. X-rays taken Thursday night revealed the fracture. Mills will see a specialist today, at which point a timetable for his return will be determined. "You never want to see a player get injured, but it is especially heart wrenching to see a young man go down on his first day of camp," said General Manager Kevin Pritchard. "We'll do everything we can to help Patty get back on track to realize his NBA future." Mills, 20, was selected by Portland with the 55th overall pick in the second round of the 2009 NBA Draft after playing two seasons at St. Mary's (CA) College.
The last two months could not have gotten any worse for Mills.

The Boston Celtics announced today that forward Leon Powe underwent successful ACL revision reconstruction with microfracture and cartilage repair at New England Baptist Hospital this morning. The surgery was preformed by Celtics Team Physician, Dr. Brian McKeon and was assisted by Dr. Paul Weitzel and Dr. John Richmond. No timetable has been set for Powe's return.
He's aiming to get back by mid-season, but that is asking a lot.
Best of luck to him.
a. you don't go from 66 wins to a .500 team BUT,Originally Posted by JDB1523

They'll be there at the end, they'll be in the mix, but as of this second, i take a younger Orlando team with less wear and tear over them.
I...I, I dunno what I'm supposed to say here.
You just watched Orlando defeat Boston in the playoffs right?
They did so with Jameer on the bench right?
While losing Hedo, they have replaced him with Vince, right?
Boston is a year older right?
It's possible that Howard, and Jameer are going to improve this season right?
There's no guarantee that KG will be fully healthy right?
But the lone signing of 34 year old Sheed makes them better then Orlando just like that??????
I think the experience of beating Boston in Boston in a game 7 will take care of that aspect.
And neither team has a bench to speak of yet, so no reason to bring them up just yet. TBD I guess is the best way to look at that part of the equation.
In the East, right now, Orlando is the best team. Can Boston get better and beat them, of course. But as of today, I'm goin with ORLD.
1. Orlando did defeat Boston in the playoffs but it took a long series and Boston was giving significant minutes to Stephon Marbury and Mikki Moore by the end of that series.
2. Vince instead of Hedo isnt an upgrade. I think Hedo is overrated as a player, but theres no doubt he was the fuel for that team last year.
3. Boston is a year older, but so is every other player in the league. Theyre older, but its not like their ancient.
4. Its possible, but not a guarntee. Its just as possible that the Magic had one of those "magic" (intended) years where everything came together. He might have reached his potential.
5. Its no guarntee, but Nelson is also coming off of an injury. If Garnett is doubtful to be 100%, so is Jameer.
6. Sheed is a big presence and 10x better than anyone else they had off the bench last year (other than Davis). He might not give you what he had 5 years ago, but he's still a big signing.
I dont even think Orlando is better than Cleveland right now. I think Orlando is the 3rd best team in the East.
Ok, Nelson is a young dude with an injured shoulder. He isn't a running back, shoulder shouldn't be a problem any longer.
KG is going into his 15th NBA season with a bad knee?Uh, that may not feel all too well ya know? So no, KG injury concerns are NO WHERE close to Jameer's.
Agree Vince isn't really a true upgrade over Hedo, but he's still a good player, though a little soft.....ok a lot soft, but he now is on a title contender, we'll see if that toughens him up a little.
I misread you saying that Howard might have reached his potential. Tell me I misread that. You were joking? You're funny right? Please don't say a 24 year old super freak is done improving his skills. Please don't, it'll make me feel bad.
Last I checked, but if Davis walks, and Powe is gone, guess what? Boston's bench still could have a bunch of Marbury, Mikki Moore type
mu(@#$&^% s on it. So they better get to work.
And you did not just say the Cavs are better then the magic. I mean.......damn man.
Just because Nelson is a young guy with a shoulder injury doesnt mean he'll bounce back right away. Injuries are weird weird things.
I wasn't sayin that Nelsons injury was close to Garnetts. I was just saying that if one of them has injury concerns, then the other has to as well. Isone greater than the other? Yes, but you simply cant say that Jameer will be fine and ready to go and Kevin will not. It just doesnt work that way. Theyreboth question marks for next season.
I just dont see Vince toughening up on a title contender. He might be rejuventated being back home and on a contender, but I personally just dont see it. Toomany seasons removed from having that fire to compete hard every night.
I did say he MIGHT have reached his poential. I still have yet to see anything of an offensive presence from him. He's a defensive freak, but he stilldoesnt know how to play offense prductively so he's has hit a bump in his potential. He wont score points on a consistent basis. I dont think Vince willeither. I simply dont see where a large portion of the points are coming from on this team.
Powe leaving hurts, but Bostons bench is still better than what Orlando has. I dont think Davis will leave, but if he does that hurts as well.
I do think that Cleveland is better than Orlando right now. I just dont see Orlando repeating what they did last year.
