Guillermo del Toro confirms Hellboy 3 ‘will not happen’

Last month, fans were stuck in a frenzy when director Guillermo del Toro promised he would speak with Hellboy creator Mike Mignola and star Ron Perlman about making the long-awaited Hellboy 3. Now, Del Toro has taken to Twitter to deliver the news that the film will not happen.

“Spoke w/ all parties,” Del Toro wrote. “Must report that 100% the sequel will not happen. And that is to be the final thing about it.”

In case you’re curious about what would have been though, Del Toro previously opened up about what he wanted the plot of the third film to be.

“The idea for it was to have Hellboy finally come to terms with the fact that his destiny, his inevitable destiny, is to become the beast of the Apocalypse, and having him and Liz face the sort of, that part of his nature, and he has to do it, in order to be able to ironically vanquish the foe that he has to face in the 3rd film. He has to become the beast of the Apocalypse to be able to defend humanity, but at the same time he becomes a much darker being. It’s a very interesting ending to the series.”

Perlman also spoke about ideas for the film previously, addressing the children that Selma Blair’s Liz Sherman was pregnant with at the end of the second film.

“The two twins: one would look like the mom and one would look like the dad. And one of them was going to be completely f*cking corrupt, the other one angelic. Which one was which? Only Guillermo would make the f*cked-up-looking one be the angel. So then that adds to the saga.”

My girls haven't like any of the live action Disney remakes except for Jungle book and you be surprised how many adults are watching without kids. Disney milking the nostalgia factor foreal.

Still wan to know how will Lion King be live action is its CGI like Jungle Book :lol Artilces keep calling it live action

Yeah wondering about Lion King too, cause at least in Jungle Book you had Mowgli a human char, Lion king is ALL animals.

But im guessing it'll be live action as far as "shot in real locations" just with all cg animals.

it's definitely going to be cgi like the Jungle Book

I'm definitely looking forward to LK though, probably my most seen and favorite Disney animation ever

What if they Homeward Bound it? Film real animals and do voice overs. That scene where they choreograph a real mandrill lifting a lion cub would look insane. :eek

(not srs.)

Netflix Has Announced a 'Castlevania' Show

The video game-inspired vampire series will premiere later this year.

Castlevania fans, rejoice: your beloved vampire-centric video game franchise is coming to the small screen with a new series from Netflix.

While details remain under wraps, a press release from the video platform today confirmed that Castlevania Season 1, Part 1 will hit Netflix sometime in 2017. Sadly, this is literally the only official news about the project. Thankfully, however, Gizmodo’s io9 has done a little digging and pointed out some additional tidbits. Based on an old Facebook post from producer Adi Shankar (one of the guys behind last year’s gritty Power Rangers short), the series is a collaboration between Shankar and Frederator Networks (Adventure Time) and, according to Shankar, “It’s going to be dark, satirical, and after a decade of propaganda it will flip the vampire sub-genre on its head.” Best of all, though? Comic book icon Warren Ellis is reportedly the one who wrote the first season of the series.

Intrigued I am.

Will Smith Eyeing Tim Burton’s ‘Dumbo’ At Disney

Disney is circling with Will Smith to star for director Tim Burton in Dumbo, the live-action adaptation of the classic 1941 animated film. The studio is moving aggressively toward a production start with a script by Ehren Kruger about the big-eared, lovable elephant. This is an intriguing family film option for Smith, who is also working toward a start date with Sony Pictures on Bad Boys For Life, a reteam with Martin Lawrence which has Joe Carnahan directing his script.

Insiders also indicate that Tom Hanks has been offered a role as the villain. He may, however, choose instead to star in the World War II drama “The Grey Hound.”

He's got the ears for it.
