I think that Seattle's rationale is basically this...

week 17, 2011 Season, Lions @ Packers.

Matt Flynn...31/44-480-6-1....

In other words they figure, "hey, if we can surround this guy with a slew of offensive weapons like he had in GB then there's no way he won't produce".....

ehhh.....I guess....

I mean if he can do it with Jordy, Jermichael, Jones and Driver (Jennings wasn't playing) then I mean T.O, Rice, Edwards, Baldwin, Winslow and Tate may suffice in a weak NFC West.

It'll be two talented defenses, with two garbage QBs (let's be cereal guise, c'mon......:rolleyes....okay I'll give Flynn the benefit of the doubt for now), with two high-powered* offenses dueling it out for the top spot in the West. Yes, that does mean I'm writing off the Rams and Cardinals, they're both supremely garbage.

*Remains to be seen in both cases, the 49ers were by no means "high-powered" last season. As far as the "Hawks go, Skittles McGee was pretty much the only bright-side on that team last season.

Smith is a bum, but Moss will probably be used in redzone situations mostly and that is literally a flick of the wrist.

HIGHLY doubt he was brought in as simply a redzone target.

They've got Gore & Jacobs for that in the run game.

&

they got Vernon Davis.

I mean I guess he'll be another big target for 'em in the redzone but I heard that they're tryna add some oomph on his (Smith's) arm.....

Coach Jim Harbaugh indicated that Alex Smith has "separated himself" even further from the 49ers backup quarterbacks during offseason practices.
"He's the solid starter," said Harbaugh. "I don't think anybody questions that." Watching 49ers minicamp, ex-scout and current NFL.com analyst Bucky Brooks noted that Smith was working quickly through his reads to get the ball in the hands of his playmakers while also showing improved footwork and pocket fundamentals resulting in more "velocity and zip." So I really believe that the '9ers are trying to institute a deep-ball threat this season. I mean I can't see Moss being limited to a Plaxico/Jets type role in Frisco. I mean I highly doubt he'd settle for that...

his mantra is going deep and taking the top off opposing defenses, period. he don't shine shoes, he don't tape ankles, he don't cut checks....

straight cash homie.

But really I'm a Giants fan at the end of the day so to hell with both of these garbage

I like Flynn obviously and I will root for him but I seriously see Russel Wilson coming out as the better QB. Russel had it at Wisconsin, hes got all the tools. Although I see Flynn starting because of the contract he got Pete Carol is still saying he likes what he is seeing and the spot is up in the air for Russel to take.

On offense, maybe. That Defense was something else, though. They might possess the best secondary in the league.

Unbelievable

This guy played an exceptional game in the SB after breaking his leg a few months earlier.

Tears his ACL last year, and is running a 4.5 at age 38.

Not to mention on his show, Dr. James Andrews mentioned that TO had the hardest bones he had ever seen.

Dem genetics.

COMPLETELY Agree.

Hilarious that the 'Hawks are balking at naming Flynn the starter since Russel Wilson has been lighting it up at OTAs.

HILARIOUS.

It's the Kolb situation all over again. :lol

which is exactly what I said...:|

talented defense, talented offense on paper held back and stagnated by Alex Smith.

Can we stop talking about the NFC West now, please?

Bolded & enlarged (pause) for emphasis.

Now don't mince my words again, I hate that. Sorry for the tone, don't mean to be rude, it really burns my biscuits when people do that.

I am still so thankful and shocked Payton didn't go to the niners

Looking forward to seeing Moss & TO in the same division this year. :smokin

:eek at the shape TO is still in.

There's going to be a female Official on the field Thursday night for the Pack pre-season opener... What do yall think about that?

Is her name Brittney Griner?

If not she better keep her head on a swivel, how many times have we seen an official get caught in the crossfire?

Can't be worse than the crap officials now and their BS PI/unnecessary roughness calls

This is the NFL discussion thread bro...If you want to talk Jets, Cowboys, or Peyton Manning ad nausea then I'd suggest you visit ESPN. Talking football like this is always interesting no matter if it's the worst team/divsion or best.

If you do want to talk about something else then just bring it up my man.

I hate the fact that Owens is going to be playing for Carroll and the Seahawks but im happy that hes somewhere in the league. Hopefully he makes the team and is able to play an entire season.

Comment was tongue in cheek....

P.S. Giants over here, hate the Jets. I'd rather watch arena football than watching the Jets.

Ive never been a fan of over paying for other teams back up QBs...... their back up QBs for a reason and 9/10 time they dont work out....

Carrol's defense gonna carry them to another sub par season in 7-9, watch.

They're backups because sometimes they're not given a shot right from the get go. When Matt Flynn got drafted he was clearly not going to be able to start because they had Aaron Rodgers. Does that mean he wouldn't be able to start anywhere else? Not at all. He clearly proved that he could play when he threw for 6 TDs.

That kind of logic "they're back up QBs for a reason" is not good logic at all. Look at your QB Matt Schaub he was a backup for the Atlanta Falcons no? He's working out pretty good. Matt Cassel was a backup and he did pretty good.

The Seahawks will do better than 7-9 without a doubt in my mind. Matt Flynn is no Kevin Kolb either.
