As often as I see people complain about the $225 price tag, I can't help but wonder how this shoe would have fared at the originally planned $200 price point (which was even printed on the box of the early colorways).
As much as I love this shoe (it's literally my favorite basketball shoe in my 25 years of wearing Nike basketball shoes), the $225 price tag is just awful. I've bought five pairs of Hyperposites in the last 12 months or so, all of which I've bought either on clearance or with a coupon.
If the price wasn't so ridiculous, as much as I love the shoe, I probably would have bought 10-12 pairs by now, even at $200 a piece.
I understand that Foamposites often go for $225 or even $250 these days, but Nike has to understand that a retro model and a current basketball model are two different things. You can't expect a modern basketball shoe to move at $225 if LeBron or Jordan isn't written on it.
But, if Nike wants to price these like some hot retro, I hope that means they keep pumping out colorways for a long time. I definitely want more pairs. I just haven't liked many of the colorways. The shoe itself is great.
