Wow - $6k a month is a lot. I've found driving to be a waste unless its surging after calculating gas+depreciation+maintenance (frequent oil changes/tires/etc) and only drive during surge if 1.5x or more and still seem to only avg $12/hr. The area I drive in pays $1.00 base+$0.12 per minute+$0.75 per mile.
Is there something I'm missing or doing wrong because doing 8 hours a day (7 days a week) @ $12/hr is ~$3k/month.

He said he nets $6,100 from driving ($300 ins. + $300 gas + $2,000 tax/maintenance + $3500)
I'm just trying to figure out how you gross $6,100.
Basically he's saying he makes ~$25/hr IF he works 7 days a week, 8 hours a day.

I do UberX not UberEATS or Uber delivery.
I drive in SF and the rates are higher out here. $2.00 base $1.15 per mile and .22 a minute.
I usually start driving around 5am and work til around 10am. Take a break and start back up around noon til 3-4pm. 5 days a week (M-F)
I will do $80-$150 in the morning with a goal of $200-250 for the day.
My goal each week is to do 100-120 rides. Uber gives you $350 for 100 rides and $500 for 120 rides.
So I do about $1000-$1200 avg on rides plus the bonus. I can hit 100 easy so it just depends on the week whether I go for 120. Sometimes If i come up like 5 short by Friday I just pop out for 2 hours but I try to make the weekend family time. So that's how I'm doing $6K.

Is the $350/$500 bonus something that they add on each week? Is that only for SF?
I have some friends that go to SF just Friday Evening - Sunday Night to drive and pull $1k+ for the 3 days.

They run each city differently so other cities will have something similar but I'm not too sure about that. And yes, it's something they add on each week.
And you're right, it's not worth driving if it's not at least 1.5x but I figure I need it for the ride count so I just suck it up and do it. I can't do weekend nights. I would much rather deal with traffic than drunk people.

You've said $6100 is both net and gross in your post so I'm not sure where your confusion is. $6100 is gross, $3500 is net, i.e. take home. But I agree that it's still a lot. Doesn't really seem likely to me but idk anything about uber.

I probably get tipped like 5% of the time, and I go out of my way to provide my passengers water, magazines, charges, and feel them out for conversation.

Last time I was in a Uber I puked everywhere and bartered with the driver to avoid the cleaning fee.... Had him run by the gas station with the vacuum to clean the car and gave him a half bottle of goose I smuggled back in my pants, some tree and a carton of smokes

Here's my take...
Back in early summer when I did Uber full time (40+hours), I was bringing home at least $1,500 per paycheck each week, so yea $6,000 per month is very much attainable. This is of course without deductions from gas (which I calculated to be about 8% of earnings), I used my own car insurance which increased $300 over six months, have not filed taxes yet so I'm not sure how much that will be, and of course the hidden costs of car depreciation and repairs. I'm in the DC market, so somewhere like San Fran where the rates are higher that goal of 6K is even easier to reach. Put a couple of my pay stubs in spoiler
But now, let's get to the current state of driving for Uber...
If you asked me if it's worth driving for Uber now? Simple answer is No. The negatives outweigh the positives.
-There are way too many drivers out there now. There are even commercials lol. "Get your side hustle on" stuff. With more drivers means longer wait times. And of course with more drivers means supply is meeting demand, which decreases surge pricing.
-UberPool sucks for drivers. You end up wasting more time picking up additional passengers while you are actually getting paid less. Doesn't make sense right. So when I get UberPool requests I just pick up the first person and go straight to their address and ignore all other incoming requests. Those passengers end up cancelling and get another uber. Uber is trying to turn drivers' cars into buses, which makes more profits for the company while drivers are on the losing end.
-The "reward zone" is an area where drivers, depending on their medal status (bronze, silver, gold, platinum...which gives certain guaranteed fares or earnings boost incentives) in my case, got up to 2.6x the original fare. Before this area covered a huge portion of the area I drove in. The huge issue is that this area has gotten much smaller, about 8x smaller, so obviously much less money could be made.
-Before it was possible to make good money driving on weekdays, now the only time where it's even worth driving is weekend late nights. Rush hour may show good incentives within the reward zone, say 2.3x the fare, but you make money by the mileage, not the time. So driving during those hours and being stuck in traffic will not make you nearly as much as you would expect.

-aux cord and my iphone charger suffice. If passenger got android, out of luck
-i don't really start convos besides the hey how are you. If passengers seem chill and want to talk then I'll keep the convo going. Most of time it's people on their phone and radio playing on low volume. My dude used to troll passengers lol. If they ask if he got kids he'd say five and got three wives lmaooo. He'd say dumb **** like he drives 80 hrs per week And only get paid like $5/hour
-just get to destination safely and on time and you'll get 5 stars rating

I don't ever get a tip. I also don't provide anything extra but I do try and talk with them.
FWIW....I don't really care about the rating. When was the last time you even looked at the drivers rating? Most people just want to get to wherever they're going.

Is there a mileage requirement the car needs to have before joining? my 2011 Sonata has a little bit over 100k miles on it.
