they said his reasoning was he only wanted a 2-3 deal because he thinks he can get a max next time and the pacers were offering him less per year on a shorter term deal but were willing to go more per year long term.

What a tool.... The Pacers offered him basically the same money per year for two extra years....

maybe he just didnt wanna go back to indiana? the team was looking dysfunctional anyway. chemistry is definitely a major issue with that team, whether its his fault or not. maybe he just wanted a fresh start :rolleyes one thing i know is that if can replicate his production from last year or even progress, the hornets got a major upgrade at SG.

Hornets are garbage tho and he just went to 2 ECFs back to back with INDY... I know there is dysfunction in INDY but I guess I can give him props for believing in himself but as a financial guy I would go nuts if a client gave up $18 mil in guaranteed money...

I'm catching up on this thread and I can't believe I read Rubio sucks at defense. Wut. Couldn't be any more wrong with that.

Then I saw Felton > Rubio. Wut.

As long as Phil runs this team Rubio and Rondo will never be acquired. Good players in their own right but terrible fits in the triangle.

i wouldnt say theyre garbage. not as high of a caliber team as the pacers, but theyre an up and coming team nonetheless. they made the playoffs (even though its in the weak east) and they added some good young talent this offseason. the team has a pretty high ceiling and im sure lance will get more shot attempts on the hornets vs the pacers.

rubio isnt a good defender. we werent talking about who is better, but really who would we rather pay. but yeah, no ball dominant pg will do well in the triangle. well, i wouldnt say they wouldnt do well, but it wouldnt be beneficial for a rondo, cp, or rubio to play in that system.

Rubio gets a lot of steals per game, but that's because he gambles way too often. It's kind of like when people thought Allen Iverson was a great defender. AI wasn't as good as people thought he was. He would get beat quite often and it was mostly because he gambled. Rubio does the same thing.

Honestly, I wouldn't want Rubio on the Knicks or any team that's running the triangle. Not only does he have the ball in his hands way too often during set plays, he's also a terrible shooter. Last time I checked, you needed good knock-down shooting PG's to properly run a triangle.

This reasoning would eliminate Rondo as well.

I would honestly rather play Thanasis at 12 mpg this year and see how he develops.

JR focused just as much of his time on golf :rollin
