Dodgers Talking With Ohman?
By Steve Adams [March 29 at 1:16pm CST]

On his blog at MLB.com, Ken Gurnick writes that the Dodgers gave free-agent lefty Will Ohman a tryout this morning. Joe Torre joined nearly the entire Dodger front office in attendance.

Ohman, 31, has held opposing lefties to just a .197 batting average for his career. He's been holding out for quite some time now, despite interest from several teams. Most recently we've heard that the Pirates have been increasing their interest, and that the Phillies were out as a result of Ohman's $2MM asking price.

Bill Shaikin of the LA Times cites Dylan Hernandez (also of the Times), saying that following the tryout, Ohman and his agent headed into a meeting with Dodgers General Manager Ned Colletti.

anyone who has seen a lot of spring training in person or on TV....

is the pitching staff gunna be as bad as the numbers??

^to tell you the truth bro, the pitching staff as a whole has looked very inconsistent.

Going into the season, the staff lacks depth and expierence, we can only cross our fingers.

But, the dodgers have made a 1yr $1M offer to will ohman - we need him because our lefty specialist would be threets or mazone ... who?

laugh.gif

I wouldn't put much into Spring Training stats.

It's been proven time and time again that they aren't a good indicator of anything at all.

Barring a rash of injuries, I think our staff will be good enough.

I also think we're going to be in the running for a starter at the deadline. If the Blue Jays are trying to trade Halladay, we would have to be interested.
Dodgers, Will Ohman Agree To Terms
By Tim Dierkes [March 30 at 6:49pm CST]

7:30pm: Diamond Leung has the terms of the minor league deal. Ohman makes at least $1.35MM if he's on the team and he could add $200K to that total based on incentives. The Dodgers have the option of paying him $2MM next year or buying him out for $200K.

Ohman can also opt out of the deal if he's not called up by April 14th.

6:49pm: According to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports it's a one year minor league deal. MLB.com's Ken Gurnick adds that there's an option for a second year. He doesn't say whether Ohman controls the option or the Dodgers do, but it's presumably under the team's control.

6:20pm: According to Bill Shaikin of the L.A. Times, the Dodgers agreed to terms with lefty reliever Will Ohman. Terms are not known yet, but Dylan Hernandez wrote this morning that the Dodgers offered around $1MM.

With the season starting in a week, hopefully Ohman will be ready. He worked out for the Dodgers yesterday and Joe Torre seemed unimpressed. Last year he did a nice job shutting down lefty hitters.

For $1+M, solid & its a minor league deal.
While the Dodgers have been reported to have interest in Pedro Martinez, they also might be interested in another veteran coming off an injury: Mark Mulder.

This from The Boston Globe's Nick Cafardo:

"Mulder has reached the final stage of his rotator cuff surgery rehab with former Michigan State pitching coach Greg Gunderson and will likely throw for teams next week. Mulder has had to get over a psychological hump after such a surgery, which limited him to six appearances over the last two years with the Cardinals. When healthy, Mulder, 103-60 over his career, has been one of the top lefties in the game. Only 31, the 6-foot-6-inch, 200-pounder will likely sign a Triple A deal. The Dodgers have been the most interested team, while the Brewers might also be in the mix. Mulder's agent, Gregg Clifton, expects six or seven teams to send scouts to watch his client throw."

I've been to SF in September the past two years. Great place and the GF is always on board with the trip.

Might not make it this year, one of my boys is getting married the following weekend,
smh.gif
. To keep your girl happy, just make it a weekend and go around SF. Plan your trip with her in mind as well, and both of you will have a good time. It helps that my pops and brother live up there, so they drive us around thecity and take us to local spots.

I hate the Giants, but I love the city of SF.

I'm trying to plan 4th of July weekend in SD,
smokin.gif
.

if i'm flying out thursday night and coming back sunday night

and plan on attending the friday and saturday games, what could we do up there while being able to go to both?

r u planning to go with the gf?

sf is beautiful man, try to work in the dodgers and something romantic - thatll make her be cheesin the whole weekend.

im sure youre over that whole haight street movement, that city has more to offer then all them hypebeasts down there.

here's a quick look
Things to do in San Francisco: Waterfront
• Fisherman's Wharf, Pier 39 and Ghirardelli Square, covering about half a dozen blocks along the waterfront, constitute much of the stereotypical San Francisco image and together are perhaps the most popular things to do in San Francisco. Street performers entertain and souvenir shops and restaurants tempt spending. These places are popular and many people feel they haven't visited San Francisco unless they've seen them, but keep in mind that this tourist haven bears little resemblance to the rest of the City of San Francisco.

  • The Golden Gate Bridge is an engineering marvel. Not only is it one of the city's most enjoyable things to do, but it's also one of the most-photographed sights in the world. A walk on it is a must.

  • Alcatraz, the former prison, wasn't always a place people wanted to go, but today it's one of the city's most popular sights. Reserve your tickets in advance to avoid disappointment.
Things to do in San Francisco - Around Town
• Union Square, one of the city's three original parks, is now a public space atop a multi-level underground parking garage and ringed with elegant shops and hotels. The Powell cable car line begins about a block away, and the theatre district is nearby.
  • Cable Cars are often called San Francisco's moving landmark.
    View photos
  • Chinatown expresses what early 20th Century Western architects thought Chinese buildings should look like. There's much here that's created just for the tourist, but with our hints, you can get a glimpse of the "real" Chinatown in its alleys and shops.

  • Lombard, the "Crookedest" Street is neither the crookedest street in San Francisco nor the steepest, but it's surely the best-known. The "crooked" section is the block below Hyde Street. No car to drive down? Take the cable car to Hyde and Lombard and walk.
  • Coit Tower offers panoramic bay and city views from the top of Telegraph Hill and a bit of 1930s San Francisco captured in its murals.
Things to do in San Francisco - On the Ocean and Bay
• Sausalito, just across San Francisco Bay, has some of the best views OF San Francisco in the area. Take a ferry over, browse a few art galleries and have lunch or dinner at Spinnaker, one of the area's best restaurants for a meal with view.
  • Cliff House, on Ocean Beach has been a San Francisco standard since 1863, when the first Cliff House was built. Today's version is the third building and fourth restaurant to stand on this spot.

btw try to avoid the castro district

Cabs are expensive, I've rented cars before turning 25, they will just charge you a fee.

I've encountered these dudes, they don't trip.

if you are staying in the city do not rent a car bro. im assuming you are flying. if you rent a car expect to pay 30-50 bucks a day to park it at your hotel.if you are flying into SF there is a BART station at the airport. just get on and ride it downtown for like 7 bucks. the city is real easy to get around usingpublic transportation and cabs.
