People just can't understand/accept that the NBA Today is not the same NBA of when you were growing up.

Rest is more respected today than it was before.

Teams believe (and claim they have data supporting) that rest is beneficial for the long term well being of their players.

The mindset of the player/coach/gm is different today vs. YesterYear.

It isn't always as simple, "Dudes today are soft."

That is the easy explanation.

But instead of digging deeper into it and discussing WHY people are resting so much these days, we make it out to be this machismo thing.

So again, it is a different day. DIFFERENT. Not right. Not wrong, just DIFFERENT.

But people don't want to accept that.

players are faster bigger stronger. medicine has gotten better

yet these guys need extra rest

foh

And the effects of lack of rest/sleep have been studied to a greater level than it was before. So yes, "these guys need extra rest" based on what these teams feel THEIR players need.

Again, you are REFUSING to even acknowledge that there is another side of the argument.

I wish the Thunder would rest Westbrook a game here and there
He deserves rest. He really does man. As hard as he goes each night. But dude is a damn machine. But they can't AFFORD to rest him.

Which is another reason why I wish yall would stop saying, "Westbrook doesn't rest, so why should LeBron/Steph." Well because his team would lose every game he sat out. And they already know they aren't going anywhere, so why would they sit him?

OKC and CLE/GSW are in two different places

LeBron James has played 199 playoff games. At his 2016-17 regular-season average (37.7 mpg), that's equal to an additional 2.7 seasons -- and is more postseason minutes than the combined total of Kevin Durant (3,815), Stephen Curry (2,233) and Draymond Green (2,114).

Yea, LeBron is soft.

Like I just want you dudes to understand this whole discussion is about LeBron, just masked under the title of, "Resting Players."

Trevor Ariza is not 27 years. He’s 31 with his 32nd birthday right around the corner. He’s playing in his 13th NBA season and like Harden has missed one game over the past three seasons. In that span, he’s the name directly below Harden’s in total minutes, one of just two other players with 8,000 minutes of floor time (John Wall is the other) over the past three seasons.

Why are people acting like it's the players decision to rest? Like the players are getting soft and choosing to take the day off. 98% of the time, it's a coach/front office decision. Criticism needs to be aimed directly at them.

It's not a coincidence that D'Antoni and Thibs coached teams aren't getting these scheduled rest days.
nevermind

Thoughts on what the Karl Malone said on resting
"If you don't have 10 years of experience, get your *** to playing"

RIP the process
Who is he?
Malone > Will Byrums

"Boris Diaw"
Looking back, I see Philly traded Elfrid Payton and a "future first round pick" to Orlando for Dario

What else became of this for Orlando?

Stop defending guys ruining the integrity of the league.

The clippers were handed a free win and fans are pissed they were sold on Lebron James and given Liggins.

It is a decision that affects more than can be seen, it's eternal.

That LAC win that they were handed will be the difference (good for some teams bad for others) in seeding for Playoffs.

As of now there is plenty of Season left but just for short, OKC would be #5 and set to face Utah 1st round, if LAC wasn't gifted that win.

Instead, they are set in the #6spot and will face Houston.

All of this will change but the point is, one decision does affect more than just the team making the decision, and when it is a FOUL decision from Jump, it amplifies the issue to me.
