That's what will be said but it's more to it besides football.. but yea he def wants to play early and UGA has recent history of playing their RB's if they're good no matter who's in front of them. We sold him on playing the Sony role and being able to play in the slot when Zeus is in. Remember Chubb and Sony played game 1 as freshmen while Gurley and Marshall were JRs. Hell, even Brendan Douglas got significant carries in that loaded backfield. Brian Herrien also played Game 1 last year with Chubb and Sony as JRs and Holyfield would've as well if he wasn't hurt, so Cook knows he will play.
Is lil Dalvo bailing because of the depth chart?
Honestly if I was a back with NFL aspirations coming out of HS , I wouldn't want a significant workload until my Junior year.
Really don't need Lingard considering the '17 class was loaded, but it makes me wonder how much effort they really put into going after him to begin with.
Insane how badly Sumlin and Co. botched the Jalen Green race... Kid's a megastar and they just stopped calling him during the DB coach transition. Literally the only corner worth a damn early in the process who was showing you any love, and you let him slip through the cracks. Disgusting.I saw some Opening videos too, all of the Texas DBs look like they did work and they're all Texas leans except O'Neal.
Foster's going to Texas regardless...If I'm Texas I like him at whatever guarantees that he'll come to my school
Once Herman gets his burnt orange grill its over for TAMU
Yea but you know if I would've just said 'better opportunity to play at UGA', somebody was gonna be like "How Sway?...7-5 Sway...DawgsOnBottom" that's why I gave our pitch and I hear he has family currently at UGA but I haven't confirmedIt's as simple as he sees a better opportunity @ UGA and one not in his brothers shadow
I don't blame him
Cardo this true?Lots of chatter SC is a legit contender for Justin Fields. Color me a bit skeptical, but yesterday's interview did make the idea more plausible in my estimation. He is the best QB here and probably gets a ratings bump about Trevor Lawrence in my opinion.

NBC reporter recalls the great lengths Julio Jones’s high school took to ensure he committed to Alabama
When former Alabama WR Julio Jones was a star in Foley, Alabama, his high school coach wanted to make sure his best player went on to play for the Crimson Tide and once went to great lengths to keep then-USC coach Pete Carroll away from Jones.
Per the recollection of one NBC reporter, that involved a school lockdown and a quick phone call to Nick Saban.
According to All22.com, NBC’s Rob Buska recounted the incredible story on Pro Football Talk this week:
Buska then paraphrased what Carroll had to say about the encounter at Jones’s high school:“I had talked to Pete Carroll once about Julio Jones, and he said when Julio was in college, he of course went to Alabama, and Pete Carroll was still at USC,” Buska said.
Then, Buska continued, recalling the conversation with Carroll, the school got Alabama coach Nick Saban on the phone and Jones was offered a scholarship right away:“We loved Julio so much, and he went to his high school in the middle of nowhere, in the sticks there in Alabama. We flew in to see him, and once we got out of the car, at the football field, during the middle of practice, coach saw me and knew who I was. He took Jones off the field, ran him inside, got the principal and the athletic director, and locked the school.”
The rest, as they say, is history. Jones went on to become one of the best wide receivers in Alabama history and is now starring for the Atlanta Falcons in the NFL.“Got Nick Saban at Alabama on the phone right away, and said, ‘Hey, Pete Carroll’s outside.’ Next thing you know, there’s your full scholarship right there,” Carroll said.
Meanwhile, Carroll is left to wonder what would have happened if he’d gotten a fairer chance to land the highly touted recruit all those years ago.
They're gonna say that anyways, don't go bucking the trend.Yea but you know if I would've just said 'better opportunity to play at UGA', somebody was gonna be like "How Sway?...7-5 Sway...DawgsOnBottom" that's why I gave our pitch and I hear he has family currently at UGA but I haven't confirmed
Before Fields/Corral decommitted we were scrambling offering every QB in the country because we put all our eggs in the Trevor Lawrence basket so we don't really have a Plan C that I'm aware of.
Corral would want to go to UGA if any other school, but truth be told, based on what he's been saying and what "sources" keep saying, if SC wants him back that's where he's enrolling. What would UGA do as a Plan C?
On Tuesday, four-star James Cook (Miami/Central) announced he was de-committing from Florida State, ending a 15-month verbal pledge to the Seminoles. Cook, the younger brother of former FSU star and 2017 second-round NFL draft pick Dalvin Cook, has been around the program for a long time.
His mother, Varondria Burnett, spoke to Dawgs247 about why recruiting had been put off until now.
"Florida State has been really good to us," Burnett said. "I did not want to clutter him before he went to the Opening. I wanted him to concentrate on that and now everything will be more clear for him."
Cook was considered to be a tough pull from Florida State due to his brother's success in Tallahassee, but another program was able to catch his eye over the past 12 months.
"James went to a camp at Georgia last year," Burnett said. "He was committed to Florida State at the time, but he liked it there. He went back up in April and then he came back all excited. He never posts pictures of trips, so I was caught off guard by the photo of the jersey.
"He was just telling me he really liked Georgia."
Burnett said she was not the only family member to notice how Cook felt about Georgia upon his return from Athens, Ga. this spring.
"I know when James feels at home," Burnett said. "I can tell he felt it when he came back from Georgia. My brother, who is a big Florida State fan, did too, and was like 'what did they do to them?' We had to see what they did to him."
The Seminoles were the only school mentioned with Cook for a long time, but now the Bulldogs had become a legitimate contender for his services.
"I remember when it was Florida State, and I was trying to tell him to wait to verbally commit," Burnett said. "He really wanted to do it then though, because he had been around that program for three years. He got to know everybody and it felt like home to him. For three years, we have been all Florida State, but that does not matter to me. He was now liking Georgia, so I had to get up there to see what it is that has him so smitten with UGA. I had to go because I know how much he loves Georgia.
"So we went up there...and I love Georgia. I really love Georgia. Georgia is a really, really, really, really, really, really, plus, plus, plus for us right now. We really love Georgia."
The visit, which took place June 13-15, was a home run with Burnett and her son.
"I fell in love with the academic program," Burnett said. "It is amazing and different than what I have seen around. Georgia is a really good school with genuine coaches. I love the coaches. Coach Smart is awesome. Coach Coley is awesome. Coach McGee is awesome. I love Georgia. The way they want to use James is the way I want James to be used at this present time at Miami Central. It is clear that is how he should be utilized - he can catch the ball really well. I just fell in love with Georgia."
Early on, Burnett said she was hesitant to consider allowing her son to play in the SEC.
"That was our whole thing about going to the SEC, with the physicality of the league," Burnett said. "Every game is a big game, with close to or over 100,000 people watching. That was my major concern and I expressed it - James coming here and I do not want him to just be the battering ram. We have to have someone there to compliment him. We talked, and I liked what Georgia said."
The Bulldogs' coaching staff explained how they planned to take advantage of the 5-foot-11.5, 181-pound tailback's skillset.
"Georgia plans to use James out of the backfield catching the ball," Burnett said. "They don't just want to make him a running back, they want to make him elusive, like Marshall Faulk or Reggie Bush. The thing with Dalvin, there are few running backs better than him because his vision is amazing. With James, he loves not only running the ball but catching the ball as well and Georgia sees that. They have done it with Sony Michel."
Burnett and Cook, rated the No. 2 running back in the country by the 247Sports Composite, were well aware that Georgia received a commitment from five-star Zamir White (Laurinburg, N.C./Scotland), the nation's No. 1 running back.
"James loves the thought of being part of a tandem with Zamir White," Burnett said. "What he brings to the table is different than what James brings to the table. They would compliment each other and make each other work harder. I am excited about Zamir committing to Georgia and we are going from there."
According to Burnett, Florida State was taking a lot of running backs.
"Don't just go to a school because you like a school and you are familiar with it. Keep your eyes open," Burnett said. "You could be as good as you want, and everyone says 'compete, compete, compete,' but if you are stacked at this position and these four-and-five-star players are playing really well, we are not going to be crazy when we have an opportunity to go somewhere else where we could really, really, really help out and really enjoy ourselves."
Georgia just signed D'Andre Swift to go along with Brian Herrien and Elijah Holyfield.
"We like the depth chart at Georgia and we are confident we can come in and help Georgia out," Burnett said. "We like what they are doing with the offensive line and at quarterback."
Return trips to Georgia are in the works for Cook and his mother.
"We will definitely be back this month and to a couple of games," Burnett said.
Really don't need Lingard considering the '17 class was loaded, but it makes me wonder how much effort they really put into going after him to begin with.
They put a good deal of effort into recruiting him. He was one of the players at the top of the board. But he was not about to be a member of the 2nd 3 RB class in a row.
When Cook re-classified I always thought there was a pretty good chance that come NSD they didn't end up w/ Lingard or Cook. Even w/ a class like the '17 class you always want to stack talent as much as possible.
casper90403 hearing that Jalen Hall played really well this weekend. He's an SC silent but word for a while is he's been mediocre at camps and tournaments and SC might not take him unless he starts putting together better performances.
Side note, I don't get why SC refuses to show Jack Lamb any love.
