Official 2017 Knicks Offseason thread, Phil Jackson gone

Honestly, other than trading the 2014 pick, that trade wasn't that bad. Gallo, Chandler, and Mozgov haven't really amounted to anything. We'd probably be in the same exact position that we are in today, if we didn't get Melo. Idc what you say about the Felton/STAT pick and roll. His knees were going to fail on him anyway. However, we should've amnestied STAT instead of Billups. It's extra stupid that we amnestied him after picking up his option.

The Nuggets haven't been great, but they've been better than the Knicks each year. They were significantly better the following year with a team basically relying on Gallo and Chandler. So if they haven't amounted to anything than neither has Melo. And the Knicks sacrificed any flexibility they had which is why the Nuggets now have valuable future assets like Jokic (and maybe another young star if they hadn't messed up and picked Mudiay).

Gallo and Chandler made about the same amount in salary as Melo, but were 3 times as injured. It just wasn't $20mil+ for one player. Both teams have been in the same boat since the trade. Stuck in mediocrity or bottom dwellers. The difference is that Denver wasn't dumb enough to sign Bargs, Chandler, or Noah to ugly *** financially crippling deals.

How about Lance, Kuz, and a 2nd rounder for Wilson Chandler?
