Has an athlete's parents speaking out ever helped a situation?
I know it's hard to stay quiet and as a parent you feel the need to defend your child, but speaking out always make situations worse.
Early rumblings is he hasn’t really connected with the parents and a lot of them don’t like him. Closing practices to them doesn’t help. That said I question whether anyone would be saying any of this if he operated the exact same way and they were 3-0 right now. Saban wasn’t exactly the warmest dude from the jump and you can’t see any of their practices so it’s not like what chips doing is unheard of.
The in game jumping jacks though...
Farrell's a clown but that wasn't exactly a hot take at the time.
There's a lot of revisionist history going on in regards to Mahomes
Funny how many "fans" he has in the media now, didn't seem that way around draft time
How many major programs outside of SC have open practices?
A lot of media members like to blame it on these guys being paranoid but the real reason is to hide the fact that these "analysts" are on field coaches as well during practice.
Pretty sure that either I (or someone else as well) has said it in before, but at Alabama's practices after the viewable (to the media) portion of practice the analysts (who arent supposed to be coaching) descend upon the field and coach as if they are allowed to do so. They try to skirt around it somewhat by not directly speaking to the person they are coaching (i.e. they might see Jalen Hurts do a rep and talk to Tua saying "Jalen, next time you need to do xyz"). Same thing at all your major Universities who have the budget to hire a bunch of analysts
Which makes SC having open practices all the more depressing. We want to cheat too guys!
The amount of people Bama has on the sidelines and in the personnel department is ridiculous. And a few of their analyst don't even travel to games or go to practice, they just scout the next team and bounce by WednesdayOne of the main reasons why I think the NCAA should put a cap on those analysts spots. Huge advantage for the Bama's of the world just by sheer manpower.
Don't your fans actually want the open practices tho? I remember there being a stink when Lane closed them.
NIU's trash O will keep them from actually winning, but Sutton Smith might end up being a household name by the time that game is over
