OFFICIAL 2019 COLLEGE FOOTBALL OFFSEASON THREAD

Serious question, aren’t you usually a child of a former player to be considered a legacy? I thought Keyshawn was his uncle, but did his dad play at USC?

You’re right that legacy admissions are typically straight line familial relationships like parents/siblings/grandparents. In a family like the Matthews’s etc. uncles can count, and at a school like USC when the familial relationship is an SC hall of famer - Keyshawn Johnson - who is running your recruitment and pushing the school to take you, you’re a legacy (SC didn’t take Keyshawn Jr. either thankfully.)

Michael thomas grew up 20 miles from SC’s campus, asked SC to let him commit, and is cousins with DeAnthony Thomas. The fact we whiffed on both still makes me salty.

Maybe, I was just not woke to it but how did Herman go from America's darling to the biggest douche bag in college football over the course of like 2 years? Year 1 at Houston everyone loved and wanted him. By year 2 at Houston he's a dirtbag that even his own players dislike and at this point everyone outside of Sam Ehlinger and Tim Beck despises.

That **** vs. Mizzou was embarrassing and whining after every loss (chiefly Maryland and USC last year, OK St. and WVU this year) makes him look like a child.

More national attention, and there was really nothing at OSU or at UH in year 1 for him to be a douche about. People's true personalities usually don't manifest themselves until things aren't going well.

Undefeated in the SEC East in back to back years :smokin NEVA LOSS

Remember when we lost 30+ Sr players  and became the youngest team in the league with 70% freshman and sophomores on roster and still NEVA LOSS

I’d been waiting for the renewal of the dawgs v trees rivalry. You’d think Cardo and Keef would get along great with a fanbase whose mascot is a giant weed plant.

Biggest OH kid to come to Michigan since Chuck probably right?

Michigan has a lot riding on that game in Columbus.

Harrison doesnt want to go to OSU and after that booing at that Nebraska Game made things worse and he wants out in Columbus

Was an SC legacy who we slow played :smh:

While we are talking about legacy...

ESPN 710 is reporting Jack Del Rio is pretty much a lock to be the next SC coach is they fire Helton. This coming from a big USC insider...

SMH

Just saw this from Pat Forde:

None of Northwestern’s stats make sense for a Big Ten West leader. Pat Fitzgerald (37) is clearly working some voodoo economics.

The Wildcats are among the least productive offensive teams in the nation. Their average yards per play is 4.55, which ranks 126th out of 130. (Rutgers, with one win, is 127th. San Jose State, with one win, is 125th.)

So you may assume that Northwestern is locking up opponents defensively — but you’d be wrong. The purple is surrendering 5.5 yards per play, which is 59th nationally. There cannot be many teams that are nearly a full yard down per play that have a winning record.

It has to be turnover margin, then, right? No. It is not. The Wildcats are a minus-1 in turnover margin.

Explosive plays? Not so much. Northwestern is tied for 120th in number of plays from scrimmage going for 20 or more yards, and tied for 122nd in plus of 30 or more yards.

Limiting explosive plays? The Wildcats are decidedly mediocre in that category.

Red-zone efficiency? Third-down conversions? Nothing notable there, either.

About the only statistical thing Northwestern does well is avoid penalties, while also having its opponents penalized frequently. The Wildcats lead the Big Ten in fewest penalty yards per game (27.2) and most opponent penalty yards (76.3).

Maybe that’s enough to win the Big Ten West. What a time to be a Wildcat.

Wut. How.
