Fam the Whole reason people even started this Black Gordon Hayward narrative in here... was because PG didn't look like the same player he was before injury, at the time he was looking like he lost a step & people were going on to say Hayward was better than him.

Wall Played 41 games last season, used this summer to get back into shape....... and people were 100% slandering him this season. Kobe played 6 games the season after his achilles injury & 33 the following year.... but that's supposed to make some grand difference.

Chandler Parsons entire career is a joke on this website and all he does is get hurt.... Stop acting like this is specific to Hayward, players consistently get slandered on this site after coming back from injury.

Ima keep sayin it. Dudes in here pick and choose who they want to "slander".

Paul George before injury wasn’t a world beater. He was a 2X all star in the very weak East....on a team with multiple vets where he averaged over 20ppg only one season before being hurt

He shot 42% from the field both of those seasons

Gordon Hayward year by year...was developing into that player level George was at during the time leading up to George’s injury...on a very young rebuilding Utah team in the west.

That’s where the “Black Gordon Hayward” talk came from. Up until this year...they were essentially the same level of player once Hayward broke out in 2014.

No they wasn't the same level.

Even with Gordon's offseason hype that year this thread is literally the only place where people even debated PG or Gordon. Gordon at his best vs PG coming off a injury is what ya'll was hyping. Think about that.

No....we’re comparing the 17ppg and 21ppg on 42% shooting BEOFRE his injury to the level of player Gordon Hayward was becoming.

Hayward from 2014-2017 was 20/5/4 on 45/37/83 splits.

That’s absolutely comparable. And when PG came back from injury....Gordon Hayward was playing at a better level than him.

That’s not a hard concept.

Paul George 2016-17:

58.7 TS%
20.2 PER
7.1 WS
2.8 BPM
3.2 VORP

Gordon Hayward 2016-17:

22/5/4 on 47/40/84
53.6 eFG%
59.5 TS%
22.2 PER
10.4 WS
4.2 BPM
4.0 VORP

Hayward was progressing every year in his career then got a well deserved pay day. It's ignorant to say they weren't comparable players because of revisionist history.

It wasn't. PG was an all NBA player on both ends before. Y'all love to elevate dudes after 1 good season. You have to build up a rep in this league. We've seen a lot of players have contract years.

Not sure why y’all value dudes opinions outside of NT. This ain’t the first time you said “out of NT.” Unless you listen to blog boys in your free time :nerd:

He’s gotten better every single year since he’s been in the league prior to the injury. Chalking it up to just a guy having a contract year is absurd.

Pre injury PG was looked at as a young great player on both ends with good post seasons under his belt while Gordon was missing the playoffs.

They had one year where they had similar numbers & similar effects on their team winning & that was after PG returned from injury. However if we are gonna completely discount that PG was the #1 option on a team who was in the conference finals & was already a All NBA/All Defensive player while Hayward was still figuring it out.

It's ignorant to say they were comparable players & completely disregard defense, role, & team success.

All NBA 3rd team...is for fringe all stars who have decent years on good teams. There’s a reason names like Al Jefferson, Goran Dragic and Kyle Lowry occupy those spots circa that time.

That’s the company of player Paul George was in before his injury. East All Star/All NBA player.

Kris Middleton today is the level of player Paul George was in Indiana pre-injury.

As much as I dont like Lebron, I didnt see anything wrong with that.

Perhaps he was trynna create a 2 for 1 but with that little time left lakers wouldve been better off running the clock down and taking a better shot. Make or miss, clippers are gonna eat the clock on their possession and give lakers at best 5bor 6 seconds to scramble for that last shot??

Unless you’re steph, reddick, or klay, one good shot is probably a lot better than two ugly ones

I see the argument...

I get it.

Very nitpicky

Y’all going learn about the Eastern Conference one day.

The “Black Gordon Hayward” ***** originally started as a pejorative by me, mainly to temper the expectations and level of player that Paul George was PERCEIVED at, at the time.

He’d start off the year hot...and people would float he’s Kawhi/KD level. And it was clear to me...he was closer to who Gordon’s hayward was becoming....than KD or Kawhi

That’s the context for you. Do what you want with it.

Okay so from now on when making comparisons we are gonna disregard the defensive side of the ball, team success, Role on the team, & individual awards & accolades

Heard ya'll..... Giannis with a jumpshot Byke

Realized that bron letting the ball roll went viral and I legit don't understand why. I don't get it

This is the one that bothers me. We went 2 for 1 and he stole it back with an open 3. Really good, intelligent play. Trez should be getting laughed at for lettint it happen :smh:

Paul George broke his leg in the summer of 2014. He came back for 6 games in the spring of 2015. He played the whole next season in '15-'16 and had one of his best seasons. He wasn't coming off of an injury in the '16-'17 season, which is the only season people are saying it was comparable.
