Find it hard to see the schedule ever being shortened

We're putting it on the owners and the league office but I don't think the player's union would agree to a shortened season. If we go to a 60 game season, will the players be comfortable giving up 25% of the revenue those additional games produce?

We frame it as though it's the big bad owners forcing these measures down the throats of players but the players have a say in these measures and as we all know the NBA Players Union is quite strong.

Disrespectful.

One more bad game and we'll see Jrue in a Drew Bledsoe jersey Photoshops.

Yeah for sure the players aren't going to want to give up the revenue either for the sake of potentially having less stress on the body. Both sides are going to want that revenue replaced with another stream somewhere else

I still tend to think in these events the owners are more than likely to stronghold a position than the players as far as share goes.

Reminds me of when the MLB had to shorten the season due to Covid and you had the owners not even wanting to pay the full share of the games being played but at a higher discount which is crazy. If we're playing 60 games, pay me for 60 not for 45 of them

Man u can't be making da $$$ Ben makes but not be a #1 or #2 option

Rudy Gobert

Draymond

Otto Porter Jr was specifically signed by Washington to a max deal to be the 3rd option behind Beal and Wall.

Celtics gave Kemba the max with a blossoming Tatum and Brown.

Kevin Love hasn't been better than a 3rd option for a good 6 years now.

John Collins is about to get maxed out and he's not higher than 3rd option over there right now.

Ayton is about to get the max. Lonzo might too.

Enes Kanter was not a number 1 or 2 option and got the max.

Greg Monroe (remember him?) wasn't a number 1 option either and got a max deal from the Bucks.

Wes Mathews, Harrison Barnes, Young Whiteside, on and on and on.

All of these guys make/made the max.

You get paid the max for a variety of reasons/talents and Ben Simmons has enough talent/reasons to warrant a max deal, even as a third option.

You're right on all this my G except that Kevin Love hasn't been an option for the last 2 seasons. :smh: :smh: :smh:

Didn't expect anything other than this response. Silver knows that everyone makes more $$ with keeping things moving and keeping the schedule as is.

Looking at this injury issue from a different angle and since this is a sneaker forum, do you'll think these predominantly low top, plastic/mesh shoes with foam cushioning are a contributing factor?

No doubt in my mind. I don't think the sneakers are doing what their supposed to do which is to help these athletes perform at the highest level. What's the last significant development anyone can remember on the shoe front? Last development I can think of is Nike's Shox technology but I don't know whether that was more of a gimmick than utility.

Gimmick. There was some science behind the design of the Shox providing an “energy return”, but it’s was nothing I noticed actually wearing them. I’m guessing most others felt the same since Nike stopped making Shox basketball shoes (except for retro-ing the BB4s).

There really haven’t been any significant performance developments in hoops shoes that I’m aware of. Continued use of lighter weight materials; trying to incorporate post-consumer materials. Experiments with adaptive lacing. Nothing close to game changing.

lol i'm not sure why you did all that typing for. i know in reality non first or second option get paid but as your post proves, it's tough to get good team results when they do

Everything these shoe companies do is a gimmick.

Vast majority of the footwear is terrible for our physiology In the long run.
