Official Guitar Players Thread vol. Beginner - Intermediate - Advanced

Gary Clark Jr is playing an Epiphone Casino. Very good hollowbody guitar.

yeah, ive been thinking about getting the casino for christmas but im still thinking about it.

Just got back from berklee this summer, had a blast im probably going to audition this year.

thanks man, yeah dude i have a lot of theory but that right there was basically all blues pentatonics, and some chromatic movement but if you want i can break anything down in the video and explain a thought process of whats going on. This was essentially done in two takes, a warm up run and then this. The only mistake i made was around 55 or 56 seconds my pinky missed a high C note i wanted to blast out but i wiffed

Im gravitating towards jazz right now so my blues was rusty but i was satisfied with how this came out

So happy to see this thread back..

Been trying to play some blues solos lately. Sadly it's just on my acoustic.. but I play on buying an Epiphone Les Paul next year to really expand into electric blues and whatnot.

I've gotten a new guitar since the birth of this thread.

Will post a video in here that I watch every day. Give me a bit. :D

I watch this every single day for motivation.

Joe Bonamassa + Warren Haynes = explosion.

I want to play blues like this.

Been playing acoustic stuff with a friend who knows how to play Piano.. god singing and playing / soloing is soooo much easier and more fun with even just one more person playing with you.

Thats one thing i lack. Can't find people around here that play serious. Made it my goal to start playing at some night clubs that do blues or even jazz stuff. Need to practice that. Although i gotta practice the jazz end of it, im sure i got the blues stuff down

this. im no pro or jazzy/blues outta no where kind of guy like you but even adding drums or bass is awesome enough. it makes me go ham. i dont know much people who like to jam either. i actually went through with a reddit meetup once where a couple of guys rented a jam space to play. it was fun but not my type of crowd and musical taste. and they were kind of weird and tone deaf. never again, with them atleast. when i have a famjam, i can play with my uncles but that doesnt happen too often. ive got cousins who like to sing, but thats about it. i have friends that own guitars, but theyre the memorizer types.

tldr; wish i had more musical friends

adrian1221-man you have some talent! seems so effortless. are you able to sing during solos? that's one of the toughest things for me to do along with finger-picking while singing.

Thanks man.. love that damn guitar.

Been playing my Ibanez for some BLUES lately, which is really odd considering its a metal guitar.. but I have to improvise til I get my les paul.

I find it easier and easier to sing and play chords, fingerpicking and singing can be done easier I find if you have the fingerpicking pattern down and memorized like the back of your hand. Then its just muscle memory.

Nice 214 btw. :smokin Taylor Gang? haha

You chose nylon on your Taylor just like Zac from Zac Brown Band. Such a distinct sound.

Totally missed this

Depends on how comfortable I am with the song, But Its doable. I do slight back up vocals at church but playing the guitar is all im focused on really.

Any tips for a beginner?

Just decided to pick up the hobby cause its something that I've always wanted to learn. Will post pics of my guitar when I get home. I have knowledge of what the different chords are, just not any good at transitioning from one to another.

i've kinda stopped practicing guitar, i've been really busy and most of the time i'm just not motivated to play. Has this happened to anyone else? 'm going to start practicing again and learn new songs to see if it inspires me to continue playing.
