Bev is a helluva of defender and brings it every single night. Not many guys you can say that about in the league on the defensive side of the ball.

Not many guys in the league could getaway with playing that type of defense because they'd get called for fouls :lol: like Bruce Bowen used to get away with hacking people

First if he had communicated that the Knicks were his #1 free agency location rather than leaking interest in the Nets he could have come to a full team instead of a bare cupboard. Second like you mentioned his free agency stint. And thirdly refusing to waive his NTC for this long when it was clear the Knicks were tanking and wanted to trade him.

That's not my primary criticism of Carmelo but I certainly don't believe all the "woe is me" "Knicks fans should feel sorry for him" type of narratives

The trade to NY was the biggest misstep, but in hindsight seems to be largely driven by Dolan clamoring for a star and feeling the pressure of Melo potentially going to Brooklyn instead. Denver definitely shouldn't have gotten that much for a guy who everyone knew was leaving at the end of the year. They didn't have to get fleeced like the PG deal, but seems like some front office incompetence in there as well.

Disagree on the NTC thing. At that point, they drug his name through the mud for the entire year. No problem with him taking control and choosing where he was going to play at next.

He chased the bag and got screwed by a ****** organization. I'm not willing to fully buy into the notion that he's the bad guy all-around, but he definitely has some culpability. Especially D'Antoni situation.
 
Even if Melo signed with Knicks rather than accept a trade there, they weren’t getting past the Heat.

Chandler & Rooster were solid pieces but let’s not overstate their value.

The only time Melo took the money that actually cost him a shot at the title was his first extension with Denver. After that neither the Knicks nor the Bulls situations would have put him in title contention
 
I like what Bev said. I wish dudes in the league still went at each other like that and not this "Well we just played hard, take it one game at a time" PC stuff.

I disagree, the way things broke in 2015 he would've gotten to the finals with the Bulls.
