Once you go to the checkout page you'll see a spot where you can type in the code. It's a bit confusing, but what I do is click "Add to Cart", then click on the right hand upper page where it says "Account" and then "My Cart" will show up in the upper right hand corner next to "Account." 

Click on "My Cart", click "checkout" and you'll be taken to the page where you will have the chance to apply that promo code.

Do everything that I told you to do. Don't click "Secure checkout with paypal." Wait until the last page when you submit payment information and you'll have the option to pay with paypall. It's the same as all other sites that utilize shopify.
