^^ Link says that the Niners will be picking up Lance Briggs on friday too...

Anyway, I like the situation the Raiders are in as far as having the 4th pick in the draft...I don't really know if Al Davis will skip on McFadden if he isavailable, and if he isn't that can really mean either Long or Dorsey fell to us and I don't mind having to pick up either one of those players

Which Long? cuz I don't want JAKE, especially since we have a Zone Blocking Scheme now. We can get an LT in the 2nd round and have him be successful withthis scheme.

I DO want either Chris Long, Vernon Gholston, or Glenn Dorsey.

Lance Briggs is not going to be good in the 3-4. he plays the same position as P. Willis. they are not going to pay him more than Willis. they need a Rush LB.

O MY GOD. The Raiders signed Tommy Kelly to a 7 yr 50 million dollar deal

Albert Haynesworth is LOVIN IT!
Kelly signs seven-year, $50.5 million contract with Raiders
The Oakland Raiders stepped forward Thursday on the eve of free agency and signed Tommy Kelly to the largest contract ever given to a defensive tackle.

Kelly, a defensive end scheduled to move to defensive tackle this season, signed a seven-year, $50.5 million contract Thursday that has $18.125 million in guarantees. In the first three years of the deal, he will make $25.125 million.
The Raiders' plan is for the 300-pound Kelly to replace the retiring Warren Sapp as the three-technique defensive tackle in the Raiders' 4-3 defense. The move is similar to the one made last year by the Detroit Lions' Cory Redding, a franchise player who signed a seven-year, $47.5 million deal last summer, the highest among defensive tackles at the time. Like Kelly, Redding was an effective run-stopping end with some pass-rush ability so the Lions believed he could move to tackle, work next to Shaun Rogers and create a solid 1-2 interior defensive tackle punch. The Raiders believe Kelly can emerge as one of the league's best interior defenders. Kelly gained the confidence of Raiders coaches by averaging five tackles a game as a starter at defensive end. He's had 13 career sacks, and the Raiders believe he can be a pass-rushing force at defensive tackle because of his quickness. First, though, Kelly has to get healthy. He's coming off a torn ACL that limited him to seven games last year. He had 30 tackles and a sack in those games. Kelly was going to be a highly coveted defender in free agency because he could play defensive tackle in a 4-3 or defensive end in a 3-4. He came to the Raiders in 2004 as an undrafted free agent out of Mississippi State.

UNBELIEVABLE.

Wait, what about those two stout defensive tackles that were about to undoubtedly fall to them in the draft?

Rams released WR Isaac Bruce.
The Rams asked Bruce to take a pay cut and he refused. The Rams have got themselves into awful cap condition with poor free agent signings the past few seasons, and now have to cut their most tenured player. Bruce has plenty left to in the tank, and will instantly be on San Francisco's radar. If the Rams are smart, they'll make him another contract offer.

The Vikings have agreed in principle to trade receiver Troy Williamson to the Jacksonville Jaguars for a second-day draft pick, according to a person with
knowledge of the situation. The trade cannot become official until the official start of the league year, Thursday at 11 p.m. CST. Last week at the NFL
Combine in Indianapolis, the Vikings gave Williamson's agent, David Canter, permission to seek a trade, and Canter insisted there was plenty of interest
in Williamson, the seventh overall pick in the 2005 NFL draft. Despite a disappointing 79 catches for 1,067 yards and three touchdowns in three seasons,
Williamson intrigues teams because of his speed.

The Vikings had high hopes for Williamson heading into the 2007 season, after he spent time in the offseason working with vision specialists at Nike
headquarters. But Williamson again struggled with drops and had a career-low 18 catches for 240 yards.

Jacksonville loves wide receivers that can't catch.

you can teach hands...(our receivers have improved...dont drop nearly as many passes outside matt jones)...you cant teach speed...a new start for dudemight be nice

nobody said anything about marcus stroud

Wouldn't Bruce be a decent fit in Jax? (pre Williamson trade, I guess)

Can't stretch the field, but he's reliable.

The Jaguars have given three-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle Marcus Stroud permission to seek a trade, according to his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, who discussed the situation Thursday on ESPN's First Take.
Also, the Jaguars are in discussions with the Detroit Lions to acquire defensive tackle Shaun Rogers, according to a league source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because such moves can't officially be transacted until today - the start of the NFL's new year. Detroit reportedly is seeking a second- or third-round pick as compensation for Rogers.

Coming off microfracture surgery on his right ankle in 2006, Stroud played in nine games last season and posted 35 tackles, three sacks and recovered a fumble before he was placed on injured reserve Dec. 12.

Speculation has swirled since the 2007 season that Stroud was unhappy in Jacksonville and wanted out, according to several team sources who asked not to be identified because of the sensitivity of the situation. The five-year, $31.5 million contract that Stroud signed in 2005 (which will pay him $5 million this season) isn't considered a factor in the team's decision to allow him to seek a trade.

Bye Bye Marcus,

wanna leave after league suspension too

ok
John Clayton says there are trades ...
Vilma to new Orleans.
Kris Jenkins to the Jets
....

Looks like Jets got a 3rd rounder for Vilma and flipped it for Jenkins?
nerd.gif

ehh, we crushed Vilmas value
ohwell.gif

Jenkins healthy is ok with me though

That is a great coup for the Saints.

Looks like Mangini wants him as NT, and deal Robertson..

now if we could get Rogers, have him play NT, and put Jenkins at end...we're workin with somethin

I can see Bruce coming to Chicago...we need receivers. Especially now that Moose left and Berrian probably wont re-sign.

Lance is gone. I don't see anyway the Bears will keep him, which sucks, especially knowing that Urlacher has back and neck issues.

Gibril went to high school in San Jose.
I can see him signing with us, we need someone opposite Huff at Safety because Schweigert(sp) is

On a sidenote, I can't believe we gave Tommy Kelly the highest contract for a DT in history.
That'll change in a bit(Albert Haynsworth is gunna get $$$), but still

I am willing to bet in the next year or two, some disgruntled Raider fan is going to take out Al Davis

I spoke to a source close to the situation who told me that Asante Samuel is in. It's done. Per the source, the cornerback and the Eagles have worked out a deal. Samuel is definitely one of the big-time names in free agency this year, and the Eagles were obviously intent on signing him even though this constitutes tampering. That said, everyone in the NFL tampers. It's a fact. You see free agency start at 12:01 a.m. one day, and they have major deals done by 12:05 a.m. These things just don't happen that quickly.
