I'm glad for the Niners that we finally got rid of that bum, but have no idea why the Raiders want him. They already have Robert Gallery; do they want to have the most false startsAND holding penalties in the league?
49ers sign RB Foster to two-year deal
The San Francisco 49ers got off to a good start in free agency by reaching deals with two unrestricted free agents and a running back who was cut by the Panthers.
The 49ers reached agreements Friday morning with Lions quarterback J.T. O'Sullivan and Vikings linebacker Dontarrious Thomas. They also signed former Panthers halfback DeShaun Foster to a two-year deal worth around $1.8 million.
O'Sullivan agreed to a one-year deal at the NFL minimum along with a $40,000 signing bonus. Thomas agreed to a two-year deal. Former Steelers cornerback and kick-returner Allen Rossum passed a physical Thursday and signed a one-year, $870,000 contract.
The 49ers will have Bengals defensive end Justin Smith in for a visit Friday.

The Times-Union
The Jaguars have given three-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle Marcus Stroud permission to seek a trade, according to his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, who discussed the situation Thursday on ESPN's First Take.
Also, the Jaguars are in discussions with the Detroit Lions to acquire defensive tackle Shaun Rogers, according to a league source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because such moves can't officially be transacted until today - the start of the NFL's new year. Detroit reportedly is seeking a second- or third-round pick as compensation for Rogers.
Coming off microfracture surgery on his right ankle in 2006, Stroud played in nine games last season and posted 35 tackles, three sacks and recovered a fumble before he was placed on injured reserve Dec. 12.
Speculation has swirled since the 2007 season that Stroud was unhappy in Jacksonville and wanted out, according to several team sources who asked not to be identified because of the sensitivity of the situation. The five-year, $31.5 million contract that Stroud signed in 2005 (which will pay him $5 million this season) isn't considered a factor in the team's decision to allow him to seek a trade.
Raiders are going to land 49ers OT Kwame Harris with a big deal, somewhere in the neighborhood of $5.5 million annually for five years with $10 million to sign.
WOW.
on a side note,
49ers have agreed to terms with QB J.T. O'Sullivan (Lions), LB Dontarrious Thomas (Vikings) and RB DeShaun Foster (recently cut by the Panthers). Terms of these deals are not known.
looks like no Briggs

The Press Democrat reports the 49ers are not in the running to sign OLB Calvin Pace or WR Bernard Berrian, but they are going after WR Isaac Bruce, whom the Rams released on Thursday. Pace and Berrian are probably getting big deals elsewhere. If Bruce's asking price is right, expect him to sign with the 49ers to reunite with OC Mike Martz.

AOL Sports reports once he hits the free agency market, LB Lance Briggs has been pegged to land in San Francisco.

Jets acquired Kris Jenkins for third- and fifth-round picks in the 2008 draft.
Both FoxSports and ESPN has confirmed the news. It remains uncertain if the Jets will restructure Jenkins' contract. New York is taking a risk, and has been surprisingly willing to give up picks in the Mangini era, but Jenkins should fit their scheme well and replace Dewayne Robertson.
replace Dewayne Robertson
Did the Jets cut ties with Robertson or is he a FA? Certainly didn't get what they were expecting after drafting him top 5.
Restructuring a few deals could free up quite a bit of cap space... Working out a contract with Ken Hamlin would lower his cap hit... An extension withTerrell Owens could lower his total... Romo has said he'd restructure if it would help the team. Leonard Davis is apparently willing to do the same... AkinAyodele may be cut or traded, I've heard whispers Anthony Henry may be released... If somebody signs away Barber or Canty, that'd free up another 2+million a piece...Originally Posted by IM LIKE PELE

yeah...looks like we stand at about 3 million right now. And with the Fergy trade to Miami, we might get a mil or so back.
Did I not emphasize the money factor Nowitness???
If we restructure a couple of contracts here and there we should be fine, but my question is how much can we possible free up? I know we're still gunna be active, but my dream to pursue Moss has sorta died down...
I find it hard to believe that Javon will even come down here...
I mean we gotta save some money for the draft too, and dont forget about Canty and BARBER
