Official PC thread.

Currently have a MBA from 2011 and it's time for me to upgrade. I'm thinking of grabbing a windows OS this time around and I am looking at the surface pro4 i5 version.
Can anyone offer suggestions? Budget is around 1k and want a something similar in build to the MBA I currently have. Don't really use my laptop for anything intensive, only use it for web surfing and downloading music.

You can get a mean XPS 13 for around that if you look out. Here's a deal that just expired:

I agree with this. Also look at the HP Spectre I believe is the name. You can also get one of the lower specc'd Surface Books for that much. IMO I would go XPS or Surface Book. I've had a XPS15 for 3 years now. Its been great.

Windows 10 comes with a ton of crapware. You can run a few commands through powershell to get rid of them. You can find the full list online and how to remove. Many of the other stuff can be simply deleted.

Hopefully this means 1060 will fall in price. Or at least someone with a 1060 will upgrade and I can buy a used one for the low.
