Thanks everyone for the well wishes.

I deeply appreciate it.

Even though this is just a sneaker forum to most, being on NT has always had a positive impact in my life over the years. Hopefully when stuff turns around and I'm in a better space I can jump back in.

I read some of the post in here this morning. And yeah, the thread is in complete shambles, as expected.

All I will say is that the morning after a bad election result doesn't confirm all of our priors. Whatever they may be.

Progressives got some stuff wrong, so did centrists.

Kamala ran a good campaign, but it wasn't perfect. Buts perhaps perfect won't have been enough anyway with what has been happening in the rest of the world.

Dems will have to adjust, of course. But some things are out of their control.

We'll actually be about to see the litmus test in real time if his economic "policy" is enacted.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say the consternation won't be nearly as much as it is now, even though people will be paying even more for goods, the overall economy won't be a strong as it is now, etc.

If trump really goes through with tariffs, inflation will rise again and people will be pissed.

my guess is, he won't do the across the board tariffs rather he will do targeted tariffs to extract bribes from people.

So if 20k people in wisconsin decide eggs are too expensive so we're gonna elect a dictator.

There some people that feel like those programs destroyed the black community. And some that feel like the Dems never had our interest but just converted their goals for votes. Implementing tariffs on all imported goods is a terrible idea. I disliked that plan from the start.

Biden doesn’t get the grace of saying he inherited a post-pandemic economy… but people don’t have foresight like that. The entire world was literally shut down for two years... Biden and every other world leader was trying to play steptoe just to get up to speed.

I also talked about this earlier but I think it needs to be repeated.

Trump and his immediate clan are all grifting morons in it for personal gain but the people working behind the scenes like the federalist society, heritage foundation, etc. are all much smarter and are all working the long game like we saw with how they repealed Roe, Chevron, and packed the courts. They're patient and know how to work the game.

The fact that they're talking about stuff like this and gay marriage in public even "jokingly", means they've been talking about it in private for a long time.

This is spot on. You gotta know your audience and tell them what they want to hear. If you’re likable and a large portion of people like you. Even if you’re polarzing to the other side, you have a lot of wiggle room to work with.
