That coworker needs to realize real fast that it's not only 'criminals' at all and move accordingly...This **** is sad, not funny. I've got several coworkers that I'm friendly with who unfortunately think this way. Was just talking to a guy yesterday and he was confidently telling me that he thinks he is different. He worked hard and earned his place here (been here like 30 years). "It's all of these new people that are coming in" that are "lazy" and get all of the assistance that he didn't, and they deserve what is coming to them.
He is convinced that they're only going after "criminals" and that he's safe. I had to remind him about how he told me he was a crack addict for the first few years he was in the US, after crossing illegally, and that he told me he has a DUI on his record and is driving every day on an expired license. Zero awareness for how precarious of a position he is actually in, and that even though he may think that "criminal" means murderers and grapists, everyone who got here "illegally" is within that category to the people calling the shots right now, and they're casting a wide net as soon as they get in any door, whether home or business.
Donald Trump and Tom Homan don't distinguish between someone who came here under asylum from Haiti two years ago or someone who came from El Salvador 30 years ago.
