Our agenda is focused on efforts to create jobs and raise incomes for American workers, to lower the cost of living for American families, and to build an economy that gives every American the tools to succeed in the 21st century.

It is an ambitious economic agenda that represents a renewed Democratic commitment to the hard-working men and women across the United States who have been left out and left behind for too long. As part of that commitment, Democrats are announcing three new proposals rooted in a bold approach to the challenges facing the United States.

First, Democrats are pledging ourselves to the goal of creating good-paying, full-time jobs for 10 million more Americans in the next five years.

It is time to ignite a new era of investment in America’s workers, empowering all Americans with the skills they need to compete in the modern economy. We are calling for a new tax credit for employers to train and hire workers at a good wage, and a massive new national commitment to expanding apprenticeships and paid on-the-job training that advances their skills and careers.

While we grow jobs, wages and the economy, Democrats know that a better deal for the American people demands strong action to tackle rising costs that are eating up families’ budgets.

Prescription drug prices are jacked up, and Americans have fewer options at increased costs. Large communications companies merge, and families see fewer options and higher bills. Agriculture giants consolidate, while farmers struggle and prices in Americans’ shopping carts rise. The price of gas goes down, but plane tickets become more expensive and airlines keep adding fees.

With this agenda, Democrats’ pledge ourselves to breaking the grip of the special interests and confronting the rising everyday costs that families have endured for too long.

That is the impetus behind our second proposal, to put economic power back into the hands of the American people, cracking down on the monopolies and big corporate mergers that harm consumers, workers and competition. We will demand that proposed mergers meet tough new standards to protect competition before approval, and will institute post-merger reviews to ensure that consolidated companies keep their promises to American consumers.

Third, Democrats will take unprecedented aggressive action to lower the cost of prescription drugs — the single largest factor driving increasing health costs in the United States today. We will leverage the power of Medicare to negotiate lower drug prices, force drug manufacturers to open their books and justify cost increases, and create a strong, independent enforcement agency empowered to end outrageous and unjustified prescription drug price-gouging

This is the Democrats' idea of a compelling alternative vision for America? This is what's going to excite the base and turn folks out to the polls? This is what's going to sway those who aren't already convinced of Trump and the GOP's complete incompetence and destructive intentions for all except the extremely rich that the Dems actually have meaningful answers to the challenges in their lives? This is what's going to help them take back power in 2018 and beyond?

This would be hilarious if it weren't so depressing. We're truly ******.

I knew the Democrats would mess this up. They are terrible at messaging. Where's single payer in this? SMFH

This can't go on any longer. It looks like the GOP is just gonna have to pass a bathroom bill against GOP representatives.

GOP parts ways with county chairman after indecent exposure arrest involving stun gun
A Kentucky Republican Party county chairman has resigned after he was arrested in Tennessee on charges of indecent exposure and resisting arrest in a department store, the GOP and police said.

David Narramore, 54, of Whitesburg was arrested Saturday night in a Belk department store in Kingsport, Tenn., according to police there.

A store employee told officers that he was in a bathroom stall next to Narramore when Narramore began rubbing his foot against the employee’s. Narramore then exposed himself to the employee, according to police.

Narramore was escorted to an office, and when police officers arrived, he tried to “passively resist” arrest. After pulling away from and then moving toward officers, and then attempting to fight the officers, he was subdued with a stun gun, according to police.

Narramore, a dentist, was taken to the Kingsport city jail.

The Letcher County Republican Party chairman resigned following the arrest, according to Tres Watson, communications director for the state Republican Party.

“Dr. Narramore is clearly going through some personal issues,” and has resigned from all affiliation with the Republican Party of Kentucky, Watson said. “We wish him well as he attempts to deal with (his) personal struggles.”

Narramore declined to comment from his office Wednesday because he was seeing patients, according to an employee.

Narramore “maintains his innocence,” said his attorney, Matt King of Spivey, King and Spivey in Kingsport.

Man is done with Sessions. Isn't him claiming to know all these things about crimes and relations with Russia the very meat of the investigation though?

that Democratic agenda is awfully weak.

it's like they borrowed some of the rhetoric that trump has used and mashed it together with some outdated generic language. who is gonna buy into this?

ok, ok, to be fair, it's probably intended for the people who fall for stupid **** like "build the wall" and "drain the swamp." if they had gone for something more modern and intelligent maybe they would turn those people off.

Dems definitely trying to appeal to the orange cult members :smh:

Should know by now they're in too deep. He would still have high approval ratings from them even after impeachment.

I knew the Democrats would mess this up. They are terrible at messaging. Where's single payer in this? SMFH

Dems platform offered a real progressive step forward. Liberals still complained because they didn't like Clinton.

Single payer is not only to be offered because they can't past single payer. The GOP is now getting blowback for lying about health insurance reform. They just need a better way to message a public option.

I think it is time that the liberal base stop demanding they be excited to be able to vote.

-The first sentence was for -Red- -Red- . The quote didn't come out properly

And this is a silly agenda that opposition put out all the time. The 2018 effort is not gonna be only on this and the 2017 effort will be more localized, not a national campaign.

Some people are under the impression that Obama had the power to pass single payer.

But he is a corrupt neoliberal corporate shill so he let the insurance companies write the bill.

he had one tweet that kind of made sense at least:

not that it's the "right" thing but he is right that they've kind of ****** themselves on this one.

i guess he does recognize (albeit accidentally) that he is tied to their failure, so he may be trying to distance himself.

BUT

he fails to realize that he has been so right-wing that there are almost no democrats or independents or centrists who will flock to his side if he starts alienating republicans.

that's weak, but at least it's something. I'm pretty sure their stories won't line up, especially since don jr's not the sharpest tool in the shed.

"now, don jr, no matter what they ask you, don't say your dad was at the meeting."

5 minutes later:

"don jr, was papa at the meeting?"

"yes"

"No. I mean, he was there but he was quiet so mentally he wasn't there"

Trump might go Cersei Lannister and blow up Congress

After much thought and deep reflection (last night's episode of GOT) I think the best ticket possible for 2020 doesn't include Betsy Bae. We are living in perilous times FAM. Our enemies surround us from all sides. LIBBIES to the East, Turncoat Republicans to the South, KALE Gang to the West and the Night King beyond the wall NORTH of Canada. We need a VP (hand of the King OF the HUD) that has the experience, desire and ruthlessness to save us from ourselves. This person destroyed the Sept when Bernie High Sparrow tried to flex, this lady is a gem and a treasure. This lady is none other than Cersei Lannister. We need a Barson Cersei 2020 ticket RIGHT NOW.
