may not be the story ppl were expecting but this definitely disturbing

NYT is cited with an initial report on this, havent heard about until now

Yea definitely not the story scope I expected but man...disturbing isn't even the half of it :smh:

Makes you wonder just how much dirt and shadiness like that goes on with the pentagon unnoticed...

Hope for that soldiers family that dude gets some justice |l

This whole covert mission in Mali going down in catastrophic failure mixed with criminal intent and actions on the part of seals would be Benghazi on steroids under a Dem administration but watch it be ignored and swepped under the rug without comment from the WH or GOP...

I have reached the end of the line in interacting with anyone via social platforms or in person when anything political or racial is being discussed ... I just have one simple question and will bow out gracefully ...

What can a white male do in America today to not be considered a privileged racist?
I'm a white male who communicates with Americans very frequently, including about politics and race issues. I don't seem to have this problem. I would say not saying/doing anything racist or borderline such rhetoric that could be perceived as racist. Seems to work very well for me.

Rexanglorum is a frequent poster in this thread and is a white American male. I don't see him having this problem either.

Simply properly inform yourself about systemic racism and the statistics and scientific studies behind it. As well as US history. Identify what is racist and stay away from it.
Furthermore, empathy is key. Try placing yourself in the position of someone else such as a black man.

John Oliver broke down Trump's rhetorical buffoonery tonight.

It was spot on. But when you guys see it, ask yourself if it reminds you of anyone in this thread.

“Look,” Trump said, “having nuclear — my uncle was a great professor and scientist and engineer, Dr. John Trump at MIT; good genes, very good genes, okay, very smart, the Wharton School of Finance, very good, very smart — you know, if you’re a conservative Republican, if I were a liberal, if, like, okay, if I ran as a liberal Democrat, they would say I’m one of the smartest people anywhere in the world — it’s true! — but when you’re a conservative Republican they try — oh, do they do a number — that’s why I always start off: Went to Wharton, was a good student, went there, went there, did this, built a fortune — you know I have to give my like credentials all the time, because we’re a little disadvantaged — but you look at the nuclear deal, the thing that really bothers me — it would have been so easy, and it’s not as important as these lives are (nuclear is powerful; my uncle explained that to me many, many years ago, the power and that was 35 years ago; he would explain the power of what’s going to happen and he was right — who would have thought?), but when you look at what’s going on with the four prisoners — now it used to be three, now it’s four — but when it was three and even now, I would have said it’s all in the messenger; fellas, and it is fellas because, you know, they don’t, they haven’t figured that the women are smarter right now than the men, so, you know, it’s gonna take them about another 150 years — but the Persians are great negotiators, the Iranians are great negotiators, so, and they, they just killed, they just killed us.”

Dude, what?

What is this? :lol

Best part of the show was that monologue with the random dude reading a trump quote. It’s so true too. He’s talking like a 3rd grater with no cohesion. But you know what people eat it up. My bosses with masters think he’s like the greatest think since sliced bread, that is as long as he passes conservative legislator.

I appreciate the responses from you and chao7 chao7 but sadly they have confirmed my suspicions ...

No matter what I do, I will never escape being viewed as a white supremacist, privileged racist who does nothing for minorities etc. because I can't possibly align all of my thoughts with those of minorities ...

My background is in economics and I have personally negotiated contracts that have helped thousands of minorities ... I have personally been responsible for securing greater benefits for part-time workers in the age of technological replacement ... But yet, if I believe the ACA should have never been passed because I studied it for 2 years and realize how unsound it was from an economic perspective, I will just be the racist white guy in the corner showing his privilege ...

I am empathetic in words and, most importantly, actions ... I do recognize the similarities with what I just said above and the plight of minorities not getting a fair shake, no matter what they do ... And I am well-educated on the evolution of this country, specifically the similarities and differences between my Irish slave ancestors and African Americans ... But it is never enough ...

The minute I align with any viewpoint opposed to mainstream media I am crucified ... Affirmative action literally does not work for African Americans to any objective and honest person, yet I cannot say anything like that ...

The point I'm making is that, the current climate of this country is seeing reasonable debate either suppressed or invisible because of a general feeling of ... Why? Why go march with folks in support of minority causes if the minute I say Hillary was a crook and I voted for Trump I am condemned to death? It's like you can't support the more conservative leaning president because you genuinely feel the country will be better off without adopting all of his statements ever made off the cuff or under the guise of locker room talk etc. ...

I have spent much of the last decade of my life as a white male representing the positions of minorities ... I have hired more minorities than whites into management and senior level jobs ... And the fact that at every turn, no debate is acceptable unless you blindly align with the general consensus of **** Donald is a shame ... I will never compromise my actions and morals, but I am no longer a vocal advocate ... You lost me ...

If minorities opposing Trump is your breaking point for being an ally, then you were never an ally at all, my guy.

Saying that affirmative action doesn't work for any black person is dishonest as well. It seems like you're more set in holding these strong positions under the guise of having some sort of reasonable debate, but you aren't really that open to hearing the opinions of the actual oppressed people. I've seen you in this thread completely dismiss every critique of Trump and ride for him as you were worshipping a demagogue. Maybe you should take a step back and evaluate whether how you perceive your actions match the reality of the situation.
