This is my local weasel of a rep, ryan costello. So this guy runs on fb on saturday saying his dem challenger had people on his property intimidating his wife, that his challenger sent. He demands an apology, without even any evidence to prove his story. Turns out it was some group canvassing the neighborhood, his wife asked them to leave, and they left. These dudes are so ******* soft, like come on man you cant go throwing out baseless accusations like that. Doubt we'll hear any more from him on the topic. The good thing is he doesnt have a ******* chance at winning, so he will be gone soon.

According to manager magazin information , Deutsche Bank has indications that real estate investor Jared Kushner or related companies or individuals may have directed suspicious money through Deutsche Bank in their transactions. Kushner is the son-in-law of US President Donald Trump , who also worked as a real estate entrepreneur prior to his election.

Your information has been transmitted by Deutsche Bank to the German Financial Supervisory Authority Bafin. They are also to approach the US special investigator Robert Mueller, who is researching possible security-related financial ties of the Trump clan - including Russia.

Schumer left the meeting with no deal. It's amazing the GOP controls the government, and doesn't even have their votes in order, but some how it's the Democrats fault for not bailing them out. :rollin

While most of us know that all conservatives have fundamentally problematic views, it is important for our country and for our particular community here to remember that there are good ways and bad ways to advance a conservative argument. David Frum puts on a clinic of how to write a smart conservative article in his latest Article.

https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2018/01/frum-trumpocracy/550685/

(the cliffs version is that Trump's core supporters have abandoned any notion of things getting better, they see politics as a zero sum game and they see gains by younger people and people of color as a threat to their existing wealth and privileges.)

While Frum will not get me to change my ideology, he uses data and artful use of language to pick at some of my assumptions. He also brought be new information that I had not considered.

Most importantly, he convinced me that ticket splitting is still a thing, to a limited extent. Ironically, I've had this argument mostly with people of the center left, vis-a-vis winning suburban Republican votes.

He also mentioned that the median white person is 55 years old. This surprised me since the Average American's median age is 37 (therefore the average POC's age must be lower than that) and it got me thinking. I'm beginning to think that the boomer versus millennial discussions have to at least somewhat be inflected by our racial dynamic.

Will Frum ever convince me that laissez-faire capitalism will create racial and economic equality, nope. Will he convince me that Reagan and the Bushes are not white supremacists, no way. Will his articles make me stop, think hard about what he wrote and not write him off as some troll, shock jock or buffoon? No doubt.

Conservative NTers, take note, most of our community will take you seriously if you think and write in a serious manner. And please do so because adversarial discussions, held in good faith, is critical to everyone's intellectual growth.

That article sounds like the pacifying comments of r/trumpgret whenever someone admits to having made a mistake by supporting Trump.

Nothing short of an apology will allow Trump supporters to reintegrate the political discourse with our respect. It's cool to quote Desmond Tutu, and it is even more important to highlight that the Commission for Truth and Reconciliation that South Africans held at the end of apartheid required the former members of the tyrannical government to confess their crimes and publicly apologize.

Apologies are owed to all of us.

In fairness to Frum, he was a massive anti-Trumper. He voted for Hillary and straight up told other conservatives that if they have principles they should too.

I disagree with Frum on a bunch but he is one of the few conservatives that makes the effort to at least put forward a well reason, well researched argument. Even though I believe he is still a bit naive a itbout how deep the rot in the conservative right goes, at least he is willing to admit that it exist and is a problem.

Fewer and fewer conservatives these days seem willing to do that.
