***Official Political Discussion Thread***

Ha that's where you're wrong Spinning Rusty. Ive never been tge type to live off anyone's teat. That's for you and your ilk, demanding handouts because you can't stand on your own two feet.

Broke Boy Rico, what handout I'm I demanding? How many times you run this nonsense talking point, and I have to go through my life story for you.

I have built a nice life for myself, and I'm happy to make a sacrifice to help the next man after me.

You got one struggle apartment in NoVa and you're trying to hold onto it for dear life.

I can stand on my on two in right now, and I could also in a social democratic America. Maybe I'm just not a coward like you

List of the things the media has tricked me into believing:

1. White Supremacy/Systemic Racism is a thing

2. That America has a gun problem.

If gun owners want to scream about mental health so much, then they should be down for paying a VAT on guns, ammo, and accessories to fund a national mental health system.

Jesus can just move to Denmark and just be done with it. I hope you don't celebrate the 4th or recite the National Anthem because you obviously hate America and are hell bent on destroying it with your propaganda, race baiting, and socialist agenda.

and im a lil tight Rusty misrepresented "systemic racism"... its partisan issue like everything else.

there was a 2 part show on my NPR affiliate WNYC that discusses it.

they frame it "structural racism" but its da exact thing.

As always, America needs to fix something..............but I don't want to pay a dime extra to pay for it.

But like I said, if gun owners want this grand program to address mental health, then they should be willing to put some skin in the game. We can cut military spending to address other stuff too. Student loan reform, a jobs bill, a public option, tons of stuff.

But if you're gonna be adamant something must be addressed, be willing to pay for it.

More taxes ain't the answer. We already get OVERLY taxed for meat subsidiaries and endless wars. Take the tax cut from there. Another reason why we should be able to choose where our taxes go to if we so voluntarily choose to pay taxes.

Not only that, but why isn't anyone bringing up the fact that America's "culture" (if you wan't to call it that) glorifies and celebrates violence every day? Does that not play a part in influencing people to do ****** up ****? YES. People are dumb enough and mentally ill enough to let entertainment influence them heavily.

Nothing struggle about my apartment. I live in a nice and safe area of Alexandria and my crib is perfect for a bachelor and my current income.

And that's where we differ, you CHOOSE to sacrifice yourself for people. How righteous of you. But in your perfect socialist utopia, the government would FORCE us all to sacrifice. And that it isn't right.

There's more than one way to skin a cat, b.

I'm saying, I ain't paying extra when I already pay for **** that I don't support. Private prisons, illegal wars, destruction of the rain forest. For someone who is against white supremacy as much as you, you sure like paying for it.

On another note, where's the thread about the Oakland PD cops that just got caught in raping a child trafficking victim?

All I said was if you're gonna float the idea, be ready to pay towards it.

You say trying to use some bull **** guilt trip as an argument. Constantly passing judgment on people, and throwing out red herrings, when you are no where near innocent yourself. Especially with some of your actions on NT

But quote where I say I like paying for dysfunctional program in the government

I'll wait.

You didn't say you like to, but why don't you think the taxes that support exploitations of humanity and environment should be x'd out for something more positive? Like mental health taxation for example. Why is more and more taxes the answer? Because theres a new issue? Sorry, but i dont agree with that. Its illogical to me.

I just dont understand where you're coming from or what your point is.

Just curious...does that include yourself?

Absolutely.

Knowing what i know about the subconscious mind and the subliminal manipulation of the mind doesn't shield me completely. But applying critical thinking helps a lot. So does not watching tv.

Sadly, this post will go ignored as people continue the left vs. right, petty bickering. Spot on though, all of us are mentally/pyscholgically damaged by the "culture" that engulfs us from every angle on a daily basis from the moment we are able to comprehend. And its not necessarily just the violence, its the concept of extreme individualism where peoples entire life goals require them to compete, and be "better" than everyone else. It's manifested itself in this very thread with the mean spirited insults and oneupsmanship.

If you followed what I post in political threads you know I advocate for social democracy, criminals justice reform, and I'm borderline pacifist.

That is gun owner fell addressing mental health issues are so important. Then they should be willing to go something to solve the issue on a national level.

I want tons of programs to be put in place, many that won't benefit me directly, and I'm willing to pay to more to put these program in place because I know (I work as a Research Economist btw) at just moving stuff around probably won't cover it. And when you move money around, without a thought of how to generate more revenue, then you have to rank all the good programs by importance. Like who gets this new money. Because no matter how anyone spins it, the government still does, and can do a lot of good in America.

Not only that, it won't be a free lunch. The will be economic consequences to people that work in those "bad" industries, an how do we compensate them. We will need money for that

So I'm asking gun owner, that want to harp on mental health so much, that it could be addressed but it will have to be done so in a economically feasible way. And a VAT tax on guns to solve the issue altogether (because that is how mental health is present) is an economically responsible way to do something that they seemingly want done.

And if gun owner won't allow the market to be regulated. Then I'm asking as a compromise for it to be distorted

:lol :rollin

Always love when they try to frame it like you hate America and what it stands for and tell you to move to a different country.

Rusty already said that his family did just that thou.....

Oh really! they did? This is news to me.

What I remember saying on the topic that America wasn't some sort of savior to them, they had options and they chose to leave for better opportunities, or they missed like back home.

I never once said my family members hate America and there for fled.....Matter of fact, let's check the receipts

I'm and immigrant too. My entire family that came to states were.

St. Lucia has always been good to relatively to us.

Let's stop pushing this narrative that America is every immigrants savior

-And there are countries that do things better than America, and people like you never want to talk about that.

See? Da deeper i dig, da disparity of patriotism starts to unearth itself...

Where on EARTH was it better to be at than in da United States?

Da fact that u even entertained that America
ISNT anything but a Lottery Win for immigrants unthinkable to me..

America a takes in a Million LEGAL immigrants and MILLIONS more illegal and upgrades their

Lives instantly..no one else on earth takes in as many as we do.

No i see it....da appreciation levels of America depending on who's vantage point is fascinating here...good and bad.

"One man's trash..."

Brah what the hell you taking about.

My family is upper middle class in the islands. They were squarely in the middle hear. Plus they had to deal with more racism coming to America

Not all my family immigrated here. And of the ones that did, majority have done back. Some, like my sister, gave up their green cards

Because life is better down there. While none of them hate or even dislike America and their experience in the country, they are disgusted at the racism they faced. Especially the systemic racism

So no, America is not a treasure to all immigrants from the Caribbean.

Rusty u cant even refute my point because you have a narrower view of da world.

My family came here and prospered After being subjugated from a Dictator, that isnt "rozy
Colored conservative kool-aid"

Thats just plain reality.

America is da golden ticket to life for many who get here everyday.

I remember being with my mom taking her citizenship test and people around her crying tears of joy when they pledged allegiancy to da United States and granted full citizenship.

Ya cant negate this. Doing so makes ya look so narrow.

Famb, narrow world view? Compared to you? :lol

I have lived in two countires for extended periods of time. 4 if you include the many months I stayed in Canada and the UK

I have lived middle class and upper middle class in a Caribbean country. I have seen third world poverty with my own two eyes on my island

Lived in 5 states in America. From city to suburban to rural.

There are people that have had way broader experiences, including many people in my family. I don't claim to be some expert to that other people must adopt my worldview like I'm some authority.

And not one member of my family, not even the ones that have stayed in America, sees America as some savior.

And many moved back to to island cause they missed it, and they could make better lives for themseles back home. America was not some land of milk and honey for them

Many of my friends from the islands that came up to America for university have moved to places like: the UK, Germany, Canada, Australia, France, S. Korea, New Zealand, Chile, Costa Rica, or the Netherlands; because the wanted better than they got in America. Most of the time, it was economically motivated.

It is all about trade offs, America is good for some but not others. So you can't tell black people "ignore all the ****** up **** that was happening back then" America's economy was "da best"........even though chances that they could have been denied share prosperity back then. That is a ****** trade off for them.

And you only comeback to when we bring this up is "well it was worst some parts of the world". :lol

America was OUR moms savior, not mine, and just because I point that out I go a narrow world view?

Why? Because you think I'm denying you the empathy that you deny to other black people, especially African Americans.

Miss be with this hypocrisy

Surprise, surprise. I is the exact opposite of what you claim.

And I simply disagree with that as well.

You and I will never see eye to eye. We're on extreme opposite sides of the spectrum in regards to politics and the economy and the social structure that holds those together.

Actually I just think you built a strawman, and you chose to argue against that instead of what I actually say.

But you're right, some of the stuff you say I will never cosign. Especially on race

100.

America glorifies negativity and violence. The biggest news stories, the number one sport in the country, the number one box office hits, the biggest tv shows, the most popular video game genre etc. All centered around violence.

No argument there.

Absolutely.

How is the internet different from television in that respect?

And I think you're more conservative, by definition, then you hate to admit since you're super sucked into the left vs right illusion.

What do you know about my thoughts on race? Absolutely nothing.

I grew up in Oakland. The same institutions that destroyed black families destroyed my family. Not because I was black, but because I was poor.

Like a bad rap cliche, all my friends are dead or in jail or living unfulfilled poverty induced lives. Stuck in the same mental shackles their parents were trapped in. That **** ***** with me everyday. Especially when i go back to my city.

My entire perspective is heavily influenced by Malcolm X, 2pac, Assata Shakur, Garvey, James Baldwin etc.

You don't know a damn thing about me or what I believe in.

I don't really go to any news outlets.

But I do read a lot of books. And of course that has an influence on me. I read a lot of books written by people whom I consider to be free thinkers. But I still pride myself on not agreeing with everything they say and shaping my own opinion. I can't say the same for the majority of American's. Unfortunately that is something that the powers of be and myself agree on.

You're might be right, but it goes to other way too.

With all the shots you have routinely taken me, calling me indoctrinated. Have you ever once considered that?

Hell even in the post where you're pissed off about me judging you, you're judging me. :lol

And you've admitted to race trolling on NT, like you're Thanksgiving day antics, you saying the racial divide the only media driven, that you still think it is cool to say the n-word. So are some of things I know about you famb, and that's what I have had a problem with. Not your ideas on political economy
