***Official Political Discussion Thread***

Jesus can just move to Denmark and just be done with it. I hope you don't celebrate the 4th or recite the National Anthem because you obviously hate America and are hell bent on destroying it with your propaganda, race baiting, and socialist agenda.
:rollin
Social democracy =/= pure socialism.
It seems you have some trouble with criticism towards America. A reasonable person would argue that such an attitude is far more "destructive" than one who is willing to criticize and seek improvement for their country. Criticism doesn't necessarily stem from hate (in fact it can stem from love for one's country) nor does it make anyone a second rate citizen for doing so.

its the concept of extreme individualism where peoples entire life goals require them to compete, and be "better" than everyone else. It's manifested itself in this very thread with the mean spirited insults and oneupsmanship.

i mean....

We're playing basketball with football rules though. What may seem like winning to you is nothing more than a temporary victory, floating momentarily, on a sea of inevitable defeat. Your perception of everyone being on different teams is an illusion.

Oh I do want the country to be better. I wholly believe my belief system would work wonders. But unfortunately too many of you have been taught that yearn for self reliance is selfish and that you have to be your figurative brother and sister's keeper and that's something I don't believe. You rise on your own and you fall on your own. And why the hell would I want to be tied to someone who could never know how to stand away. That'll either just drag me down or slow me down and that's not fair to me at all. I believe in hard work, personal responsibility and resilience. I know, I know HarlemToTheBronx believes those to be "disgusting" ideals but him and Rusty are cut from the same cloth, so it makes sense that he'd think like that.

And for the record I've criticized this country regularly. And I'm thankful I have the freedom to do so.

It doesn't have to be black and white and showing some degree of altruism doesn't automatically equal pure socialism or even communism. Universal healthcare and college tuition reform for example would benefit a great deal of Americans, and in turn the country. This ideology of extreme self-reliance is by definition selfish, and it plays a large role in preventing or obstructing such reforms from happening.

Edit: Actually I don't think you realize how right you are. Video games over when you STOP racking up "Ws". Buddha called it enlightenment and I believe that is our purpose.

Look at where our country is right now? The extremists have taken over. It'll take some black and white thinking to yank it back some semblance of normalcy.

When and where was this normalcy you speak of ever prevalent?

I'm actually interested in that whole story as well, and it seems like there is more to come from that hack via wikileaks soon.

However, that is just misleading journalism. The author is referring to this memo. It was strategy written by the Clinton Campaign, and sent to the DNC, which is why it talks about her as the nominee.

Typical. Criticize the source without looking at the content.

I just provided some info, do with it what you will.

Dates don't match, the memo was dated May 26th, the article as well as others are firm on May 15th.

I guess with Scalia dead, he knows he might actually have to think for himself, and the prospect of that is just too much for him to handle.

I was about to make the same joke.

There was once a hockey player who wore a cup but not a helmet and he said that he could always pay someone to do his thinking for him. Justice Thomas seems to have taken that advice to heart.

lol @ Drumpf saying clubgoers should be strapped.

It's funny (well not funny) because of how much drama/violence goes down at clubs already by armed and drunk people thinking they're doing it.

Of course Da Drumpf had to walk back his comment after the NRA itself was confused. Never thought I'd see the day when the NRA is out-NRA'd.
