***Official Political Discussion Thread***

The arguments against DC Statehood has always been mostly racist.

The geographic dog whistle seems to be the most popular among conservatives right now.

It’s all (majority-minority state or city) has lots of (crime or corruption of homelessness).

It’s an effective trolling technique because the temptation is to either point out the problems in Republican governed places, contextualize the geographic distribution of certain issues or to point out that cities and States have far less latitude to set policy than people think. That’s the normal decent, response but it’s the incorrect response.

We all have to habituate ourselves to respond to these dogwhistles with nothing but mockery. People who live in White Plains or Riverside don’t actually give a **** about homeless people in New York or LA. People who bring up problems in jurisdictions in which they don’t live deserve to be doxxed and dunked on online.

this is interesting

Flynn pleads the Fifth, rejecting House Intel appearance: report
Former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn will invoke his Fifth Amendment rights rather than testify before the House Intelligence Committee, Flynn’s lawyer Sidney Powell said in a letter Monday, according to The Washington Examiner.

Powell, who replaced Flynn’s previous attorneys in June, wrote that Flynn refuses to be “paraded, harassed or disparaged” by Committee Chair Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), according to the Times.

I know this might not be a popular sentiment right now, but Democrats need to start defending Joe Biden in regards to the Ukraine thing.

Trump and the right wing propaganda machine are pushing the talking point that corruption exist, and the left just seems only tied up with the fact Trump made the quid pro quo request (understandably so).

But if it is not shout that there is no evidence of wrongdoing, the right with the help of the usual useful idiots in the mass media will spin it into Trump had to commit an impeachable offense to fight corruption. That he was doing it for a just cause.

The sad truth is the real average American can give two ****s about politics most of the time. A lot of people in general moan at the mere mention of the president or politics in general.

It may come to us flooding the streets like Hong Kong to really get enough attention to change things for the better.

but you know what look at all the shiny material goods I must acquire and be complacent with
