He could have easily faked it and stayed in the White House and said he was asymptomatic or had minor symptoms and accomplished the same thing if not more.
Like it or not, he's the president and is elderly and obese and who has who knows how many other pre existing conditions. They're going to give him the best possible care and take every precaution available, so he doesn't get that sick or die.
They were probably just being overly cautious and treat him quickly in the beginning.

People like Trump don't fake having diseases because they do not operate on compassion. They operate with the belief that power is exercised through fear, and they hide diseases because it makes them look weak and consequently, fallible and not to be feared.
