I made a general statement about memes that poke fun at dems and libs getting a certain response here. that I think only you responded to this conversation is happening because you quoted me. that’s it. you took issue with what I said and you responded thusly.

the basis - not all memes and dumb jokes get the same attention.

examples - lawyer and fast food jokes, pedo jokes, incest jokes, ones about how dumb conservatives are, dwalks unwashed chalkboard legs, coalgang maga bro posts, and ninjahood jokes continue on in perpetuity

I didn't take issue with what you said because in my response to you I just reiterated criticism of the meme. You were the one that is taking issue with the content of other people's posts. You are the one that shifted the discussion in that direction.

I get what you are saying about people acting differently depending on the target. I am saying the evidence here you are using to argue your point is weak as ****. Especially if you want to call out my comments. I said what 5 words dismissing it and kept it pushing, and that is somehow it is an emotional response.

That is what I am pointing out is you are just making reaches to argue your point. That you call out some activity that is not actually happening. Your point about people have different behaviors might be valid, but the evidence you point to doesn't really exist.

I’ve stayed at a couple. Nothing spectacular. The one in Chicago is nice. Been to the one in NY a few times.

Honestly, I never looked at it as him being successful. I’ve stayed at Hilton properties but I wasn’t like hmmm those Hiltons sure are successful.

It’s my understanding that he mostly has licensing agreements to plaster his name places. So I just assumed he found a clever way to monetize his name.

Warning for everyone.

On the morning of the 29th, third-quarter GDP numbers will be released. It will show big growth, probably the highest in history.

But that doesn't mean everything is wavy. This was expected with the economy reopening, that does not mean the structural problem are still not there. It doesn't mean we are no in a recession anymore. In fact, no matter how good the numbers seem, there will be bad news in the details.

dwalk31 is a troll and post the numbers on after they are released. In a coy attempt to make it seem this is good news for Trump. Then when he gets called out and educated he will play dumb

So just so, fair warning, Delk is full of it and will be up to the same tricks.

I will give another warning tomorrow.

Politically, this won’t make a difference because most voters don’t care about GDP numbers. The few who do are likely to know the bigger picture and this report will only remind them what an economic catastrophe we’re in.

It’s ironic because while GDP numbers are much more connected to “Main Street” than the stock market, the latter plays a bigger role in voter behavior. Although economic data seem to play a smaller and smaller role in elections, unless something major happens.


Policy wise, this gain in GDP is amount to cost GDP growth in future quarters because it’s a pandemic and all these grand reopenings are about to cause a bunch of grand closings since a bunch of people will get sick and whether or not a new lock down happens, demand will be heavily suppressed again because people are sick, afraid of getting sick or they get laid off or furloughed from their job due to lack of demand due to people getting sick.

A Biden Presidency might largely suppress the virus because at a minimum, liberals will continue to wear masks and conservatives will start wearing masks in 2021 because they can blame Biden for spreading a plague and by wearing a mask they’ll be owning the libs by pointing out Biden’s mishandling of the virus.

Overall, I hope that Biden’s economic team will reframe this disease-abatement-versus-the-economy framing. Fighting the virus is an economic activity; provisioning extra hospital equipment, free and widely available PPE, sending stimulus and expanded UI checks and additional warehouse and shipping work are economic activities which are more important than having sit down service at restaurants, having indoor service at bars and having leisure travel service open. The way to make this temporary transition of priorities happen, in a manner that doesn’t physically or economically kill people, requires the State to use its powers to compensated everyone who had been economically displaced and to provide extra pay and PPE to those who do essential jobs. The unwillingness of the Trump administration to temporarily set aside its preference for markets and private capital is killing people and is killing the economy because ultimately, public health and economic health are one and the same.
