Check the electoral maps attached.

You also have faithless electors that could switch sides and the laws regarding this vary from state to state.

The state legislatures determine which electors will be sent in January to vote.

Not saying it will happen, but COULD happen.

Yes, it COULD happen that some mysterious force somehow convinces 37 Democrats to change their electoral college votes in favor of Trump. But it won't.

I don’t understand

why doesn’t anyone from these news channels show the hypocrisy from newt and Ted and the rest of these republicans?

maybe I haven’t seen it but that’s all I would throw in their face

They do. It doesn't matter when the people supporting you aren't supporting you because of policies or your word or your plans, but instead they're doing it because you hate the same people they hate. These republicans can lie all day every day and their voters are still going to vote for them. Let them relent on their hate for nonwhite people for a few days and their voters will move on to someone who makes it clear they DO hate nonwhite people.

Justice Department rushing to expand execution methods like firing squads for federal death row inmates

(CNN)The Justice Department has rushed to change the rules around federal death penalties as they expedite a slew of scheduled executions in the final days of the Trump administration, including expanding possible execution methods to include electrocution and death by firing squad.
The approved amendment to the "Manner of Federal Executions" rule gives federal prosecutors a wider variety of options for execution in order to avoid delays if the state in which the inmate was sentenced doesn't provide other alternatives.
The rule was included among three dozen policy changes President Donald Trump is attempting to push through before the end of his term. The proposed changes were first reported by ProPublica.
Attorney General William Barr and the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs pushed the rule forward. Once the approved amendment is published in the Federal Register -- which could come as early as Friday, according to a Justice Department official -- it will become effective in 30 days.

This is just comic book villainy at this point...

Is this the dreaded "blue state bailout" we've been hearing so much about? GOP donors sending $3 million to a blue state to increase Biden's margin of victory?

You voted for this, dwalk31 dwalk31 .

As I catch up with this thread, I'm struck by the inconsistency of those rushing to fill the contrarian power vacuum.

Let me see if I have this straight: we mustn't seek meaningful police reform (much less reparations), because "the data" tell us that this is unpopular, and it would be political malpractice to try and actually lead on the basis of values rather than follow in the footsteps of small-n public opinion polling.

Oh, but we also should abandon gun control, because this year, with media coverage of mass shootings in stark decline, public support for gun control reached a recent nadir of *checks notes* 57%.

Meanwhile, the Republican platform includes such "popular" policies as overturning Roe v. Wade, eliminating protection for those with pre-existing conditions, ending DACA, lowering taxes for the wealthy, and opposing marriage equality.

Seems like we've got ourselves some Daryl Morey caliber analytics in play here. In this case, "Moneyball" means conveniently realigning with the corporatists, now frenziedly grasping the reigns to halt the momentum of runaway human decency, lest we screw around and manage to effect actual change.

If these unctuous, selectively "data driven" ideologues have their way, the 2028 election will be between Judge Jeanine and John Kasich.

see you at the crossroads.jpg

Pick a lane.

You don't have to be Jeffrey Toobin to know that disenfranchising voters after allowing them vote legally will absolutely never happen.....
I don't think that is the best example because ole boy should have known the legal ramifications of his whipping his dong out
