DoD statement does not mention Trump at all in their statement about the authorizion of the national guard. NYT and others reported earlier that Trump repeatedly refused to order the National Guard to counter the violent seditious siege but then “WH officials intervened” and somehow got it done. So it looks like Pence got it done but I thought only the president could give that order? Not sure if the Defense Secretary can authorize it too. Either way it seems pretty clear from the reporting and this statement that Trump did not give the order.
