DC being a state makes perfect sense, people out there paying taxes and don't have any representation nationally. States like Wyoming and Montana with under a million people get two senators but our nation's capital doesn't? Never made sense to me.

The GOP is going to fight it tooth and nail. DC statehood means more automatic Democratic (DC was around 95% blue in November) senators which would make it hard for Republicans to ever have a Senate majority

Imagine if the Democrats gave Puerto Rico statehood as well, that would be two more automatic Democratic senators. Republicans would need to have 53 to have a majority.
