Usually when Sony released the Slim versions of their console...it means the previous (bigger) version was discontinued.

I will get the regular version. I bet anything that they have the same over heating issues as they had with the ps2 slim when it hit the market. I will neverbuy another Sony product when it first hits the market again. They never admit issue and then they offer to replace your new device with a refurb most of thetime.
