Yeah I've gotten a few calls on it. It's a good look only issue for me is the $10k cap. That's what makes it unattractive but other than that it's guaranteed money. The lockup combined with the cap makes it eh.

Get a combination of a fixed coupon and a variable rate that resets semi annually for those who don't know about the instrument.

If inflation goes back down, I think the rate goes back down. Rate is only locked for 6 months. Still potentially a better option than losing money / value to inflation?

That makes sense

If you’re sitting on a stack of cash, and want to put 10k into something risk free that will beat inflation, and are bearish on putting it to work elsewhere (market, crypto etc) then might as well put 10 in and figure out what else to do with the rest. Especially if you feel overleveraged in the market or already have other funds to DCA.

Funny you mention this. The company I work for has these monthly financial classes where they go over various areas of finance,(bonds, budgeting, retirement etc.). They happen to be talking about I Bonds in the upcoming one.

Amazon is a example of how tricky the market game is…

They dominate everything and just landed the damn nfl in their tv deal. Yet their movement has been minimal at best.

you still holding a lot of rock shares?
Yeah all of them. I stopped actively following the market and trading last fall. I had decent gains but was getting too distracting. So I haven’t really been following the markets at all and didn’t set any stop loss. Checked my account a couple months ago and that was a bad, bad day. It’s actually gotten a lot worse since then. I haven’t sold anything but my unrealized losses are pretty disgusting.

Pretty much just holding and hoping now.

Decided to close a few positions several weeks ago as I reassess my portfolio. Realized some gains and losses but was sitting at a roughly 40% cash position afterwards. Started a watchlist for well known defensive stocks to monitor and sure enough half of them are green (HD, WMT, KHC, WDFC).

Still researching and looking at the ratios. No rush as I’m in it for the long haul. There will always be green and bloody red days.

I feel a lot better now, thank you.

As long as I'm not the only one super red.

All I see are tax writeoffs and carryovers, if you don't have conviction in the stocks anymore. Advantages in bull and bear markets 8)

A lot of us got left holding the bag on growth stocks

Expensive lesson to learn but we’ll be alright. Now we know. Fed gives you the script. We should’ve went cash when they told us their plan for tapering. Or even went short.

Next time the chairman sells, that should be a clear sign you should be ready to sell soon.

Still think we’re in oversold category. Market reacting as if this is a recession, yet unemployment rate is the lowest it’s been in decades.
