OFFICIAL STOCK MARKET & ECONOMY THREAD VOL. SCHOOL'S OUT

Picked up Cree puts earlier today :pimp:

From you guys'observations, has a company ever had a good report after issuing a warning/guidance lowering mid quarter? I've noticed that companies that give a "preview" of poor numbers tend to drop after that preview and again after the official ER.

Had this hampering with Cree. Yes, yes. Terrible strategy to gamble like that.

Paying out today

Welp. FB just hit all time highs.

Glad I got rid of the Cree puts this morning. Still came up +250%'ish. Was +300% EOD yesterday.

FB is all I care about, :pimp:. Earnings is a whole different beast though, anything can happen. Three digits by end of the year? :nerd:

It's your money, do what you think is best. I personally would've been out of it when it failed 100 and lost the 90s. That's a nice average, but this is also a name that's bubbly.

I'm in the camp that you don't fall in love with stocks. You enter the market to get paid. Some stocks have a longer shelf life than others, but we're here to take a check when we can.

GPRO could squeeze some folks and make another run, but it's very likely to come down to earth and stay there in the long term.

See what's in your best interest and go from there. 68.34 could be a pivot point lower if it doesn't hold.

$TSLA - Tesla Motors down after http://WardsAuto.com said sales off -26% through September

- btw, that's ABOVE exp. Stay tuned

Damn man, Wiz had the right idea shorting this one but he was just a few days early.

Edit:

$TSLA - Up until now, no financial institution would underwrite a lease on Model S due to residual value risk. This has now changed. - CS

I'm so confused right now

 yeah NotableCalls could be confusing. Seems like their numbers were down and then a company came out to defend the stock.

Reading now that the original article may have been misleading.

I just put in a request for SpaceX shares with SharesPost.com

Been wanting to invest in this company for the past two years. Would be a longterm thing if they give me any.

Edit: Took a 44-40 put spread in TWTR for .98 just a 2 lot. Implied move is 41.50 but Idk I feel like this is gonna sell off hard.

flush it baby I get full value under 40 :pimp:

Took the spread off for 1.78. Could've held it for the week but with the fed minutes Wednesday I rather not. Wanted to lock in some gains and start the day green with a little lunch money. Could've gotten 2 bucks if I waited another five minutes but whatever.

Edit: I love a good sale :pimp: TWTR's been resilient today.

Thank you Based Elon

What's SEC regulations for announcing financial data through a personal Twitter account though?

FB :x

INVN :x :x :x :x :x

My lady friend's dad who's a senior engineer at INVN probably just lost several tens of thousands today :smh:

I was gonna play FB short but got cheap and didn't do anything. Nice sell off.

INVN damn that sucks Based. I've been a fan of this name for a while, things just haven't been going well for them lately. thought they would be the next SWKS in terms of just putting together a solid run.

I want to start shorting stocks.  I can only go long, what trading platforms let you short and how do I go about doing it?

You need a margin account and you need to learn the art of short selling since there's blow out risk s/s naked. Always use a stop and you always want set risk when shorting. Never wanna add add add or you'll end up like this:

http://tradetheticker.blogspot.com/2014/10/lessons-from-my-290000-lake-loss.html

A way around the blow out risk, is using puts since if you buy a put outright, max you could lose is the premium.

Study and paper trade s/s for a while. It's a fun animal, but you need to learn the process.
