First, we can't trade 2014 first round pick.

Second, who said we should do that? I haven't seen that in here.

2015 free agent sign Rondo, yes. Trade for, no sir.

No potential reunion I guess?

B.Brown..CSUF and Westchester representative..he can ball. Wings first, though.

I remember watching him ball at the 24 in Anaheim hills when he was at csuf. Never seen someone jump so high. Had to have like a 45"+ vert.

Don't know if someone already replied with this...

But for those saying the Lakers should trade their 2014 first rounder to Boston for Rondo.

What good is that first round pick if the Lakers suddenly have Rondo? Rondo, Pau, partial season of Kobe would make that first rounder middle of the first round... at best.

Can't trade the pick... CBA Rule.. Only way we could is if we get a 2014 1st or a 2015 1st in return from someone in the same deal.

Yeah, I didn't read any of that. Bright is the only one I would have read and I probably missed what he was referring too.

And the rep could have come from Rel or BN, so still only 3 dudes that don't realize it isn't possible.

Anybody actually watching the summer league, or y'all just waiting for the Lakers?

Kyrie Irving

1) Would still be under his rookie contract, Cleveland would obviously match any offer that's given to him, he'd be restricted.

2) He'd rather play in New York if he's ever allowed to leave in the first place.

3) Thew new CBA makes him leaving Cleveland extremly unlikely anyways. CBA was made to crush big city/spending teams.

Love and Melo is your best shot looking forward if you don't decide to tank and actually get a draft pick from probably the best draft since 2003, next year. As a Knick fan, I wish we could get rid of Melo now if y'all want him and tank this season just to have a shot at a top three draft pick.

I would love to tank unintentionally, get a top 3 pick. (Wiggins, parker, smart, randle) whatever, melo, sign Kobe to a smaller deal. Sign pau to a smaller deal. And actually have capspace to work with.

Not bad.

That'd be the best way to do it. It'd be the difficult to convince Kobe but it'd also be the perfect time to convince him, the dude did just rupture his Achilles. A year of recovery for someone his age is better than him coming back and pushing himself on a mediocre team.

Trade Pau and Nash before the deadline if you could and just tank it. It's hard to imagine but it's the best way to go. Yes the Lakers have re-tooled in the past, but they've also been incredibly successful in drafts (Kobe, Magic, etc). This draft class doesn't come around often, it'd be the perfect time.

I love Melo, he's one of my favorite players but I do not see a team with both him and Kobe working. Them 2 will take damn near every shot

I've read that they are pretty good friends so who knows, maybe they'll come together and be a bit more unselfish to achieve that ultimate goal of getting a ring, a la the Heat.

As for this year I think we really need to add someone who can be at least somewhat effective on the defensive end, we were pretty bad last year in that regard and have only gotten worse this offseason. Especially if/when Metta gets amnestied.

Dunno if it was mentioned in the last couple pages, but as far as LO's decline I remember reading that he was already in a bad place that offseason before he got traded. If you'll recall, he was in NY for his cousins funeral and while there his driver struck a kid and he ended up dying. Apparently all of that was very hard for him to handle and he was coping with drugs.

I think it might have even been on here somebody said Lamar's assistant (can't remember the guys name, but it's the one that gets him the candy ) had been buying oxy off of one of his friends heavily and that LO was pretty bad off at the time. So yea, I doubt he would have resembled himself that year even if he'd stayed a Laker.

lakers should sign nick young if they are serious about tanking, just ask sixers/wizards fans. as it is the lakers roster is setup perfectly to tank while still being entertaining and somewhat competitive. we had no defense last season and now we have a tandem of pau/kaman to protect the paint to go along with nash who gets abused nightly, artest amnestied and kobe coming off a bum ankle, not to mention defensive specialist antoni as head coach. this team should score well enough to keep fans engaged while losing enough to stay in the lottery.

now that I think about it jimbo might be a genius.

can someone clear up what the qualifying offer does on rookie contracts? i read up on it a bit and if the rookie doesn't accept the qualifying offer, the rookie then becomes an UNRESTRICTED free agent, thus letting them sign anywhere with the team not having the ability to match any offer the following season.

can anyone clear this up?

QO is basically the bid a team has to make to make a player a RFA. If a team offers QO, the player is now a RFA. Every other team can make an offer but the team who made the QO can match.

At the same time if a team refuses to pay QO, the player is an unrestricted free agent.

Rookie doesn't really have a choice.. See Eric Gordon and Hornets last year
