OG Sneakerheads vs Noobs

All the people who lose interest in sneakers when the bubble does burst didnt love sneakers in the first place.

Cant wait for that.

i walked in the day after these released back in the day and copped a pair my size, wooden box and all

now i would have to camp out overnight, standing around with people that are only there to resell and could care less about the shoe just for a small chance of being able to get my size

no thanks

Very true but I think you get cats who are into it for a few years then move on but they get replaced by someone new

I will always have my love of sneakers but I have a small rotation of 10-15 pairs at most because I just don't have time to wear them anymore

10 years ago I prob had 50+

Saying dudes shouldn't be wearing Jordans if they don't play basketball or if they never saw MJ play live ...gotta be the dumbest statements ever.

Let the youngsters cook.

Resellers are trying too hard to be "hustlers" not knowing that reselling sneakers is probably one of the worst hustles ever

imo it should be the opposite, you're missing out on a lot of great shoes if you're using retro Js for bball

This.  It blows my mind how the shoes of these players (Jordan and Penny for the most part) have eclipsed their athletic abilities on the court.  I'm 30 now, but remember as a kid wanting certain basketball shoes because the looked cool, but mainly cause they were that particular athlete's shoe and I was a fan of that athlete.  I got Jordan's cause back then Nike Air gave young kids the perception that you could fly like Mike and as a 6 or 7 year old that's what I thought I was gonna do when I hit the court in those VI's back then

.  Most of these kids who buy these shoes today, look like they haven't even touched a basketball. or play any sports.   I get the fashion aspect of buying sneakers now, but it just is strange to see how things have changed over the years.  Prime example is Lebron.  Check the Lebron XI forum.  Plenty of people in there say they can't stand Lebron or his game, but gobble up every one of his sneakers because they look cool.....I don't get it.

i miss the days of buying the newest kobes and breaking them out/in in the first basketball practice back from winter break

Dog I was at the mall last weekend and sum dude picked up the brons like "these are the new lebrons?? :x"

"Yes"

"Lemme get a 10.5"

Dead srs.

Depends

Take a guy who knows a couple spots, and able to grab 2-3 pairs each release. Most likely he would have to wait. On average he'd profit $150-200 after fees and all (assuming he has to maximize his profit by selling his products as close to the resale market value as possible, thus risks over saturation)

Now take a guy who can clean out spots. He'd end up with at least a size run in an instance. He doesn't have to maximize his profit at $70-100 on top of retail for a pair, and let them fly for $10-20 less. A release can result in $600-700 profit. And only thing he has to do more is shipping out more shoes.

Problem is everyone wanna be a reseller nowadays, that they don't take profit, time, and effort all into consideration. If coming out $200+ for 20 hrs worth of labor, you better off getting a real job since that's below minimum wage.

depends on how you go about doing it, wanted to try and get the prelude kobe 2s at niketown shanghai a few weeks back but the guy who worked there said that there are people that pay a bunch of guys 2-3 dollars (converted from RMB) to camp outside and buy up all the stock

they then walk out of the store and sell to anyone that wants to buy them for 3-4 times the retail cost, if not they bring them back to the boss and the shoes get put online for sale

struck out hard on Black/red 1's today. Copped myself a pair of Adidas (the gaudy, over the top, but I still liked them since the first ones came out JS wings). Will wait for the bubble to pop so I can get 2013 Black/Red 1's hopefully in 2015 for retail.

I don't like Lebron and I have yet to buy any Lebron kicks ... that's just me.

In my head, an "OG" 'head only existed in the '90s. Before "sneakerheads" really existed.

the term sneakerhead is lame as hell but I think a lot of people are like me; growing up they could really only get a pair of sneakers for school and Christmas because my mom couldn't afford anything more so...

I basically fell in love with the pairs I would get and when I was 13; I got a job at a local bakery so I could afford to buy more throughout the year

The term sneakerhead really isn't corny, it's just that a lot of you want to disassociate yourselves from these new dudes.

The old men are worse.

At least the teens are using their mothers money and trying to match their Y&R shirt to impress men and women. That 30 year old literally just wants to impress men.

Or he could be a rare breed and literally just want them.

I'm older and I buy the shoes because I like them. I don't care who thinks they're cool. To me the designs are timeless, so when the fad dies out I'll still feel fresh...to me. And that's all that matters. I swear some of you NTers spend more time hating than focusing on your own ish.

Weren't you the one saying how the Gamma 11's were a fail for JB and beating your point to death in the Jordan thread though? 8o

All this effort over shoes. This hobby is getting more silly and pointless to me as time wears on.

The "OG heads" and the "noobs" can have it. I have just about all the pairs I could possibly want. Just give me a new pair of Air Max 1's every now and then.

Did you join Nike to talk about pumps?

I completely agree. It's like buying track shoes and can't run. People can be extra lame lol
I hate to break it to you but retro Jordans SUCK to ball in (compared to whats available now). They serve a better purpose as a casual sneaker than a performance one. Keep hating.
