Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

I need to watch eyes wide shut again.. Especially with that theory of Kubrick trying to break up his marriage and judge cruise
I watched it once, after I read the article about ^^^

Man, wow. Kubrick was in another lane with this one. His own Highway. Amazing.

Since I'm guessing you haven't seen them either, I suggest you add the following to your list:

Monster House
Coraline
Paranorman

All animated, but a little a-typical because they involve creepy subject matter. But all very well done. I'd say Coraline is the best of all of them, but I like Monster House a lot too.

Don't know of Monster House but I've heard of Coraline / Paranorman. Hadn't thought of coming at it that way but alright, interesting.

Man. So severely disappointed. Sinister 2 is sitting at 4%. The first film wasn't that highly rater either (60% or so), but still, 4% is putrid.

Will be skipping it.

The hospital beds and the music was too much for me in the first man :lol

I don't even like this kind of stuff. **** overpowers me. Sinister was haunting in such a different way (I'm not comparing it to a lot though since I watch 1-2 horror movies in a given year at most)

Midnight in Paris falls under the category of "I love it, but wouldn't have a problem if someone else didn't" Despite the very positive critical consensus, I wouldn't consider it a universally loved movie just because it's Woody Allen. I love Woody Allen.. even the "bad" Woody Allen I still appreciate and can enjoy. If you're not a particular fan of nostalgia, classic authors, and Woody's style and charm, then maybe you wouldn't love it like others. I'd still think you could appreciate the cleverness, writing, themes, but still not like it.

It was the first - and still the only - Woody Allen movie I've seen. Love it. Tom Hiddleston stood out the first time I watched it and continues to each time, and Corey Stoll's performance somehow gets better with each watch.

What's everyone's favorite Kubrick film?

A Clockwork Orange.

I watched The Shining in 2004 in a friend's girlfriend's basement theater with somewhere around 8-10 people. The friend and his girlfriend were in the front row. First time I ever saw somebody make out combined with the first time I ever saw The Shining lol. Don't even know what the **** that combination can mean

New Robocop is on.
They used that OG 90's music. :rollin
That's so dope.
Kinneman is good, so this has to be decent.

That music though, Robocop theme music was always so funny.

Mads Mikkelsen about to be in a Star Wars movie?!!?

Y'all had me at hello. :{
That dude is scary man. Son about to embody the dark side.

Somebody had mentioned they wanted him to be Dr. Doom and I can't get how that would be out of my mind for the next time he is on the big screen.

Yeah. I've only ever seen one episode of Hannibal, but that's enough to tell me he'll be a perfect Star Wars villain.

Kubrick is my favorite director, by a pretty wide margin. And the vast differences in his films makes it so difficult to rank them, but I think I'd put Dr. Strangelove and the Shining tied as my favorite films of his. FMJ, Clockwork Orange, and 2001 are right behind, but I didn't enjoy those quite as much.

Mads Mikkelsen as a sith lord makes almost too much sense. This needs to happen.

Kubrick is definitely up there for me..

Tarantino probably is my favorite, just off of his batting average with me.. Coppola and Scorsese.. David fincher

Trying think what other directors whose work I'm seeing no matter what just because their name is attached to it

Fincher? Nolan?

Michael Mann used to be that way for me, but not so much anymore. I still give him the benefit of the doubt, but I won't rush out and see something solely because he directed it.

James Cameron is now kind of that some category for me since I'm not a fan of Avatar. Too bad his next movies are both going to be Avatar sequels.

Yea, I'm definitely watching a Nolan movie as soon as it is released, but I don't have him on the level with other guys I mentioned.. Extremely good director, but I'm a bigger fincher fan.. And I said fincher already

Ridley Scott hurts a bit, he dropped off hard.. Cameron I like, but he's not on that level of the guys I mentioned for me.. I have Cameron with like zemeckis.. Or would have had Ridley Scott there if not for his huge fall off

He brought a physical realism to the character. Seeing Anthony Hopkins' old self easily kill guys in the movies had me shaking my head.

:lol Its true. The scene where Lecter escapes in Silence and a bunch of stuff that happens in Hannibal (the movie) require heavy, heavy suspension of disbelief.

Yeah when he escaped in Silence Of The Lambs, I was like are you serious? He murked those fools easily with a smile on his face.

Watching Dumb and Dumber To and not gonna lie, I'm laughing. So, so dumb, but in a funny way.

Edit - got all the way through and laughed the whole time. Yes, I'm inebriated, but still, better than I expected

What makes Kubrick so damn unique was his variety.

He's made one of the greatest war movies, comedies, thrillers, science fiction, it's crazy.

I forever love the Fast and Furious franchise, but the Dom and Letty subplot is so bad even by their standards. It actually takes me out of the movie.

It takes me out of the movie that features driving a car through a skyscraper.. That's how bad it is :lol

I didn't see many people talk about it, but thoughts on Straight Outta Compton?

I thought it was goddamn brilliant. I thought the actors playing the main three were phenomenal. I don't know who I liked most, might be Dre. I would love to see an Oscar nod for him.

Would it be crazy for this film to get an overall nod? 8o
