Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

I'm really not against it. I mean, her opening scene in Social Network
smokin.gif
...that and the fact that it's Fincher. Heard he'd do up to 100 takes of a scene just to get it perfect.

I definitely see her holding her own, even against Craig. It's gonna be interesting what they do with dude, though. He's a lot more imposing than the original's actor. They're gonna hafta humble dude.

And making her more vulnerable...I hope not. That's the first thing I've heard that got me thinking...is this a bad idea?...that and the tagline.

I just read the first 20 pages of The Hunger Games and it's pretty decent so far. The simplistic voice is pretty much the reason why it's labeled as a children's book, but it isn't too bad, just your basic minimalism. It seems like it's worth a read thus far just to see how the whole competition progresses, although I've got a feeling it won't be too graphic.

I'm gonna try and start either Battle Royale or Game of Thrones later as well since I kinda wanna write my own little death tournament now.

In case anyone's interested, Amazon's having a ginormous sale on blu-rays for Fathers Day. Some of the sales that stuck out to me were Office Space ($9), Full Metal Jacket ($10), V for Vendetta and Hard Boiled for $9.50 each, and the Bourne Trilogy for $37.

Ok, voting for the 70's is done now.  I sent the voting process to someone else via PM so they could double check my tallying so as to avoid people throwing tomatoes at me.

70's draft winners are

CP
Noskey
LTB

Watched Hangover 2 last night after the game.  Not bad.  It was certainly decent enough of a sequel.  Obviously it's a similar formula, and it doesn't have the same out of nowhere magic now, but all in all, it was a good follow up.  Expectations were just thru the roof for this one.  But I laughed the whole time, my wife laughed the whole time, and then at the end she said it was "eh"
laugh.gif
Like I said, her expectations were way up there and she didn't even realize she laughed the whole movie.  So I'd say 7.5-8/10  OG Hangover was a 9 easy, so not a huge dropoff.

Anyone see X-Men last night?  How we lookin there?

We could attempt to put together a top 100 list all time or some @#$%  Maybe have each person do their own, average them out or something.  Maybe do a voting process, take the first rounds of the drafts, lump them together, and vote them into order slotting them 1 thru whatever number we decide.

Plenty of stuff you can do with movies, and of course every weekend more come out and we have all that to play with as we move along.  And if 2 sports leagues go into lengthy lockouts, this thread will be all I'll have left.

(*Prays again there are no lockouts, I won't survive*)
From last week......

But whatever we do, we should probably take a few days off.  Maybe get thru the finals as well as the NBA Mock some of us are in.

We could try to assemble an NT definitive top 100 all time movie list.  Top 50, whatever.

Or do an all decades draft.  Or just start namin off movies and do reviews of them.  It would be kind of cool to have some sort of library of NT reviews on movies, but I dunno how easy/hard that would be.

All kinds of stuff we can do.  JPZ came up with the draft idea, maybe he has some more ideas he can throw out.

X-Men First Class was awesome by the way.

Fans of the comics would be annoyed of course, and there's even some discrepancies from the other films but I put that out of my mind and I really enjoyed it.

Fassbender was terrific, and I normally dislike James McAvoy but he was solid as well.

Of course, as I was sitting in the theater before it started, I checked Twitter and saw that Walsh was out and that kind of ruined the whole movie a bit

Just watched Alien and it was pretty good. No real beefs or anything other than that I would've liked to have seen the ship's explosion in its entirety instead of cutting back and showing Sigourney Weaver's reaction, and Ash being covered in a milky substance. That was a little too weird for my liking considering there was pornographic photos on the wall when he was trying to kill Sigourney. The alien being in her escape pod or whatever was pretty dope, too--nice to see it in turmoil and give us one last thrill.

Johnny make sure you watch Aliens while #1 is still fresh in your mind.  See which you like more off instanct reaction.

I'm goin to X-Men tonight, I'll post when I get home.

Friend of mine got me a copy of Priest, Red Riding Hood and Unknown as well.  But ya'll file that under the unworthy of time slot so I won't bore you with details.
