Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

Got thru Rise of the Apes and Friends with Benefits last night.  Liked Apes, good stuff.  Like how they set it up, and I get what you mean about bridging the old and the new.  Like how it sets up for the future too.  Cesar was freaking awesome.

My favorite "character" in the whole movie.
Benefits was a lot better than I expected.  Every role was nailed.  Elfman, Stone, Woody, and the mom were all hilarious.  And Mila and Justin were fine together.  I've been saying, Justin keeps doing good on his roles, we aren't going to get rid of him.  If he nails this Bondish type movie, forget it.

My one complaint, my God with all this Social Network type speech patterns.  Talk faster and faster and faster is the way we're headed now with jokes.  They were delivering lines so quick, they were tellin 3 funny jokes in one breath.  That trend sucks.  Literally laughed a couple times, and in doing so missed other lines that were given.

Have Horrible Bosses and Bad Teacher on deck for tonight.

Oldboy - Kind of mixed feelings on this movie. I loved the plot twists, I loved the ending, and I loved some of the cinematography. The corridor scene.

That being said, I was bored quite a bit (didn't like the pacing), and it didn't take me long to figure out the big twist. I don't know if this is a movie that you can watch more than once, either. Definitely the best revenge movie I've ever seen, by far. 7.5/10.

Will post my list of movies to choose from shortly...

The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring - If you can, watch the Extended Edition on Blu-Ray.
Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope - Needs no explanation.
Gladiator - Surprised by the number of people who haven't seen this movie.
Goldfinger - My favorite James Bond movie of all time.
Batman Begins - Great movie that gets overlooked because of TDK.

I'll go with Gladiator because A, we need Johnny to know it's 2011, and B I would love to see some of the write ups on this from these guys.

Oh and that H+ preview, what the hell with every movie now killing the world, ending mankind, buildings smoking, it's like these scenes are going to be in every movie from now on.  So help me if I see the little Smurf village smoldering, I'm gonna kick someone's @#$.

if H+ was just a movie, I'd be like...ok...that's nice...straight to DVD. But when they said it was a web series
eek.gif
I got hyped. It feels like a mix of Serenity, Caprica, Babel and 28 Days Later. Plus they have Wesley from Angel, Sayid from Lost and Eric from Alias...with Bryan Singer producing. I'm looking out for it.

And...you're gonna see The Smurfs?!

Winnie the Pooh, it was good and my niece loved it.

It was a joke about the Smurfs my dude.

Oh, web series, I missed that.  Eric from Alias was the dude that also went to Heroes correct?  If that's the same guy, he's great.  Loved him in Alias, always came back and was a pain to the CIA.

Speaking of Heroes, I paid 50 bucks a season for that @#$%, now they on sale for 9 bucks.

  @#$% you NBC.

I just watched "The Program" the other night. Forgot how great that movie is. Also my all time favorite movie in sports is probably Blue Chips.

is goldfinger a good one for people who have never watched a bond flick before? if so, goldfinger. if not, batman begins. because i agree, it gets completely overlooked primarily due to joker's performance in tdk

Gladiator because I watched BB two days ago. And it's more disturbing to me that someone hasn't seen Gladiator than someone that hasn't seen a Bond movie. Even though both bother me greatly.

I'm waiting on Oldboy in the mail. I refuse to watch the dubbed edition.

Heck yeah - Goldfinger is pretty much everything a James Bond movie should be. Sean Connery, the best villain/henchmen, awesome gadgets, greatest car in the series.

It's not as realistic as From Russia with Love, which is pretty much 1b in my eyes, but it's definitely the Bond movie I recommend to people who have never watched one before.
