Clear Eyes Full Hearts Cant Lose - Friday Night Lights
nthat.gif

Just started Friday Night Lights... currently on Episode 3 of the 1st Season.

I've heard about how good this show is, but the football scenes are ALREADY corny. :\ For example, when Sarrison throws that hail mary at the end of the first game when in a real game the defense would be in prevent coverage, not allowing anything deep. The receiver catches the ball wayyyy behind the defense... uhh what? I don't think it's being picky to point that out since it's a show revolving around football.

I really liked the scene between Coach Taylor and Street though in the hospital... that was awesome.

^
Don't worry about the football scenes. Those are nothing. It's about coach and his relationships.

Also, good luck not falling in love with Minka Kelly or the chick that was gonna be wonder woman. Both are insanely hot.

JPZ, don't read this next sentence.........

I still think my all time fav scene was when coach defends Riggins in the lockerroom with that other coach. I thought Taylor was about to commit murder. :wow: :pimp:
[T.O.] "Thas my coach" [T.O.]

Corey Brewer? Wtf.

I'm usually not a huge Brett guy, but that either is awesome, or it fails hardtime.

True Blues, don't buy the 2012 trilogy release. Wait for 2013 to see what the features are, decide from there.

Might be the first movie where I enjoy Terrance Howard being in it.

If the movie is really 25 sketches with a loosely thinned plot/concept/story line tying it altogether then it reminds me of Extreme Movie.

Extreme Movie? Not sure what that is.

If anything, reminds me of Valentine's Day/New Year's Eve/He's Just Not That Into You.

Now, I know a bunch of you probably won't like this one, but this is the movie of 2013 for me.

The Lords of Salem. Noskey knows what I'm talking about. :pimp: :pimp:

I'm not a fan of what RZ did to Halloween, but his original stuff, man I eat that stuff up with a knife and a fork all day. I love House of 1000 Corpses and The Devil's Rejects. This seems much more serious in tone, but that's okay. I love when RZ gets visceral with his filmmaking.

I'm expecting a lot, my hopes are set really high, I can't wait.

Well I said if it's really just a movie of 25 sketches. Of course those movies are usually the first thing you think of when a bunch of stars are in it.

Extreme Movie was a comedy similar to those other movies that spoof movie genres but it wasn't anywhere as terrible as how that got after the Scary Movie franchise. The movie was basically about sex and there were basically just skit after skit of funny situations tied together in a high school setting. Michael Cera was in it. Justin Long probably made an appearance and the one guy I'm thinking of I can't remember his name short little white kid. His character got mistaken for some famous porn star near the end while he was on a porn set.

So, on the home release front, CP, get ready to cream yourself.

Best Buy and Target have revealed their plans for TDKR. These things are beautiful. I might buy two. :smh:

Here's the Best Buy Exclusive Steelbook:

And Target has a choice of two Digibooks (Blu-ray cases that have pages of information about production/film itself):

That cover with Bane man.... :x

I'm getting that one for sure, and maybe the steelbook. Both them things are gorgeous.

Damn I love the digibooks, but I already have the Bestbuy steel books for the first two, so I'll probably get the steel book

Four Rooms was my favorite short films making a bigger film. I remember loving that flick when I seen it a few years back even tho I had no idea what the concept was.

Damn at those TDKR Blu Rays. :wow:
So, you get that book with the Digicopy? But not the Steelbook?

See, this stuff gets to me, cuz I don't have any of that stuff, I just have regular normal Blu Rays, I haven't bought anything with the extras on it. I dunno what I'll do for this. I might just stick with the normal Blu and call it good, that way it still fits within my collection. For instance I don't even keep the slide off covers, I take those off and throw them in a box. I want all the DVDs/Blus to sit the same in the shelves. I'm weird, I know.

Its called a digibook. The case is a book itself, with a disc holder normally in the back. No qualms with wanting alignment on your shelf.

    at this preview. That is ******g fantastic. "This ain't hockey" jkhdaf;ojihdsaifhuidhfuidsh

"The lord already did his part....". That and the scenes with Schreiber and Watts with the home school hazing looked pretty hilarious. I'm sure I'll check this one out.

For those of you in here who like foreign films - I'm sure you are familiar with Leos Carax.

Well his new movie coming out is called Holy Motors, and it's the weirdest movie I've pretty much ever seen. Caught a screening of it today.

It's showing at NYFF but I saw it a few days early at a separate screening.

WEIRD.

Review: Holy Motors - Denis Lavant dazzles in a must see performance in one of the weirdest films you will ever see.

So damn strange, with no concrete point. Yet the artistic side is beautiful and you can't praise Lavant enough. The film is flat out stranger than strange and it pretty much about the glorification of acting and the dark side of the craft.

Below is an e-mail from my friend who directed the Other Dream Team, which is a documentary about the 1992 Lithuanian Olympic basketball team that is playing in theaters now. It gives information about the release of the film in areas outside of NY and LA and links to a few reviews. I highly recommend the movie. A very solid documentary that is really as much about politics as sports and about how the two intersect. If you're in one of the cities where the film is releasing and want to go see something a little different than the norm, go check it out.

Thanks to your support, THE OTHER DREAM TEAM had a strong opening weekend in L.A. and NYC last week. Thank you so much to all who attended a screening in either L.A. or NYC! Now, we are working hard to keep the momentum going. In addition to being in LA and NYC, the film expands to several more markets today. We are now playing in San Diego, Orange County, Washington D.C., and Philadelphia. Tonight, Friday, Oct. 5th, I will be in San Diego to do a Q & A with HBO / Olympics sports broadcaster Jim Lampley (who appears in the film) after the 7:10 show at the Hillcrest theater in San Diego. Tomorrow, Oct. 6th, I will be doing a Q & A after the 7:20PM screening at the University Town Center theater in Irvine. Please encourage anybody you know in S.D. or the O.C. to attend a screening this weekend. Next Friday, Oct 12th, we expand to even more cities/theaters. Next Friday, we will add Chicago, the Bay Area, Boston, Houston, and Dallas. I will be traveling to do Q & A’s in the Bay Area on Friday, Oct. 12th at Shattuck Cinemas in Berkeley (my old stomping grounds – go bears!) and on Sat. Oct. 13th at the Embarcadero Center in S.F. We continue to be overwhelmed by the positive audience and critical response:

Here are few recent reviews:

We’ve also got a strong 90% rating on Rotten Tomatoes!: http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/the_other_dream_team_2012/ More info about the film, including the trailer, can be found on our website at: www.theotherdreamteam.com.

Thanks again for those who have attended a screening and for encouraging friends to go to the theater! The life of the film really depends on how many people get to the theater these first couple of weekends, so we really appreciate the support!

So, Argo comes out this week. I'm really excited to go see it. So is Sinister. I'll probably see Sinister first because there hasn't been a well-reviewed horror film this year outside of The Cabin in the Woods.

And then Paranormal 4 next week, which has some good reviews early, but still too early to tell.
