PENNY Hardaway---- I DID NOT KNOW...

laugh.gif
penny was a great player. like grant hill, injuries kept us from seeing their full potential.

first of all, we can say tracy mcgrady during his orlando days was the reincarcerated and better version of penny at his finest.

after penny's hype disappeared, NBA was looking for the next penny.

and then tracy got drafted by the raptors after finishing his highschool.

ever since then, tracy had a huge fanbase b/c of his similiarity of penny which brought old memories of him. they both wore number one.

so you better be watching tracy hightlights and be impressed.

yeah tmac when he was in orlando... tmac that plays in houston is a bum... looks like he took being like penny a little too serious... with the microfracturesurgery

one thing i agree with clutchshooter on. Son was overrated. Hated this idiot after he said he could drop 40 a game without Shaq

AI smashed this dude int he playoffs even though penny had the higher seed and was coming of an injury

in all fairness to him he had very UNIQUE ABILITIES.

but his fanbase is based around a lot of "WHAT IF's".

Grant Hill in his prime> penny

overrated? you must be kidding... all nba 1st team, 2 times in a row, all star appearances, trip to the na finals, magic johnson comparisons, knocked off thebulls in the playoffs, back to back 40 games in the playoffs after shaq left. and you call him overrated? didn't he drop back to back 40's in theplayoffs against miami? yeah ai smashed him when penny was already injured and on the downside of his career, so next time you talk, get your facts straight.

HAHAHAHAH... man reading comprehension is sorry on NT.

What "fact" did i say that was incorrect. No please tell me ill wait. I even pointed out he was injured. how old are you?

Listen son. Accomplishments have nothing to do with the fact that an individual would be considered "overrated" in their respective sport. Its thepublic perception of penny that bothers me. On places like NT.... peeps hold him in such high stature you would think that hes a sho-in hall of famer. Yet guyslike G-Hill who is a better player overall get no love. Penny's (the kicks) did a lot for the guys legacy.

His back to back 40 point games against miami have nothing to do with it SON. Ive seen both videos. Great performance, but that doesnt change my opinion ofhim. Hes an all-star caliber player, had a very unique skill set, the first, like mentioned before to have vision and handle with that height. He had a swaggerabout him. Hell he should be looked back as a an allstar level player but with the praise hes given on NT a newcomer would think he built the hall of fame.legacy-wise hes overrated. Theres 10 god damn penny threads a month . From videos to appreciations or w.e

Its ridiculous to selectively pick stats of a players. His career high average is 21 a game, he did drop 7 dimes, YAH SORRY I FORGOT HIS 4 ALLSTAR APPEARANCES.GO DO YOUR HOMEWORK SEE WHO ELSE HAS 4. He did have back to back all-nba's which is pretty much it as far as accomplishments go. To bad he got hurt.

like i said G HILL> penny... and G hill is a what if guy too

Penny supporters are all about what if's, what if he didnt get hurt, what if shaq didnt leave. $*!* WHAT IF'S. its about reality.

He was rather softspoken, so the media tried to urge him to be more outspoken. Since they couldn't get him to come out of his shell, they created his alter ego: Lil Penny; a brash and sarcastic 1:16 replica of the real thing. This was a hit amongst fans, they loved the contradictory collaboration.

After repeated injuries he didn't perform as well on the court, his fame diminished. He soon became one of the 'Lost' Legends of the League.
That made me want to shed a tear.

first dont call me son cause probably i'm older than you...how is penny overrated? he was one of the best players when i was healthy in theleague, and was one of the future players of the league.. yeah his shoes are cool but they have nothing to do with the fact that he was still a great player..you alk about grant hill, yet no one talks about him, i didnt even say anything bad about him, so why are you bringing him in this conversation? i never saidhe belongs in the hall of fame, but you can say all you want but he is not overrated. because when he was healthy the delivered. so what it his all nbaappearances is as far as it goes? it still means that back then he was the best point guard, so how overrated are you when you're the best pg for 2straight years? there were other pg's GP, JKidd, but still he was the best pg

His career is overrated. Thats the point im gettin at. completely agree about him being a great player, but hes overrated. His shoes really gave him thatextra. here are some of your statements.

"When he was healthy".

"because when he was healthy he delivered"

"he was the best for 2 years".

Im lookin at things holistically. Hell andre miller even had one ridiculous season. Injuries are a part of the game, and they affect your legacy thats why ibring up the Hill reference. It sucks but thats life. Thats why Jordan and Kobe and so far Lebron are blessed. Theyve been healthy

If Len bias didnt die he could have been great
If Griffey didnt get hurt he would be the best of all time

If's get you nowhere homie. Thats why when i look at penny i see a great player for two years, but nothing to get overworked about. Half of NT has tochange their tampons when they hear the guys name

SMH. I sorry but when penny was healthy dude was a straight up beast, injuries killed his career. Dude had great handle, post up game, long range shot, crazy first step and could Jump out of the gym. Pippen could not even slow him down, and only GP was a better one on one defender that Pippen at the time. Penny's game was beautiful to look at it was not just off balanced threes, a few crazy dunks and tons of traveling.
A guard shooting over 50% from the field while scoring 20+ a game as the number 2 behind Shaq is overrated? I mean really? Damn I don't see Lebron, Kobe, Wade, or any other current guard who scores 20+ a game shoot over 50%. Did I forget to mention that what they call defensive teams now wouldn't stand and compare to defensive teams in the mid to late 90s. Common, sure Penny was part of the Nike hype. But dude was one of the best in that era. If it wasn't for dumb Magic surgeons who screwed up Grant Hill's career too. Dude would have ended up being a HoFer probably.

let's be real guys... Penny had 2 great years. he shouldn't be talked about as much as he is.

meanwhile, we have truly all-time great players right in front of our eyes like Dwyane Wade and 90% of NT hates on him.

him and Jordan my favorite all times...especially growin up in Orlando, Penny was my favorite growing up, always tried to playlike him.
Skill-wise he was one of the best all around players in his prime...he could score with the best, pass, and rebound.

Think T-Mac like 15 years ago

Damn im that old, I remember watching Penny like it was yesterday

I wasn't into basketball at all while Penny played so I don't know much about him. But I hear people saying T-mac played like Penny in the Magic daysand after watching some videos, I can definitely see some comparisons. My question is, why does NT hate T-mac so much and absolutely love Penny? Again, Idon't know much about Penny at all.

Penny showed up for the big moments which included playoffs during his time with the Magic. T-Mac never made it past the 1st round. I mean yea Magic had abetter team, but the NBA was tougher overall back then too. T-Mac has great regular season moments. But he can never come in the clutch when it reallycounts, the postseason.
